Re: How do I gift an origin pc game purchase?

There is no "gift" option available on the Origin store. If you accidentally purchased a copy of a already owned expansion, you can get in contact with our support team. If you want to gift him the expansion, you could use other retailers for a gamecode or just classy if you give him the money for the game.

Cheers

You should make "Is this a gift" an option for your games.  I had the same issue, a friend wanted to buy me a gift of a game, he's across the country, and wanted us to play together.  He's gifted me games on Steam, so we tried to do the same with Origin.  It's rather disappointing this isn't an option.  It's one of the reasons I prefer making my purchases on Steam.

I also wanted to gift BF4 on Origin to a friend but no option , STEAM is far better than Origin in this respect at least , get a grib guys !.

  • I'm very disappointed that i can not purchase games to gift to other origin accounts.  I do this very often on steam, this reinforces my opinion that origin is still a poor copy of steam's services.

I also wanted to purchase some titles to gift.

  • Was looking to purchase and gift a copy of the Mass Effect trilogy for my friend on Origin. Unfortunately it seems that this is still a feature that is lacking. Hope you guys add the ability to gift games in the future.

Over one year later and Origin STILL has no way to gift games to other existing origin users? Way to go EA, way to miss out on holiday gift sales.

    Dearest EA,

please make an update on origin store to make a GIFT option available. Steam, Battle.net has it, why don´t you? I wanted to buy a game for a friend but I

    can´t.

    Kind Regards

    Rob

This answer is not good enough.

Why doesn't anyone say WHY there isn't a gifting option?

Aren't you aware that there are MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars in purchases that Origin is refusing to collect? And also thousands and thousands of potential customers that aren't getting more into the Origin fold, due to the fact that they can't  receive gifts from their friends on Origin?

A real answer would be great... WHY isn't it an option?

And.... why aren't the stockholders asking that question?

I want to renew her membership for a year, not just a game.

  • EA - Let us be honest here. It's time to introduce this feature. I am shocked that this feature has been ignored over and over.

How long has it been now? Three, even four years now since Origin has been released? Yet a gift option has not been enabled. It really should not be hard to implement, ESPECIALLY on software that has many games and many users. I am baffled as to question why this implementation hasn't been added.

Also considering the economic value would be great for EA, buying games for others instead of them buying it on someone else. The fact of the matter is that  it would be much more easier than going to the store and giving the key to your friend.

Seriously, think about this EA. There is nothing to lose.

Also, considering moving this to the Origin section rather than Battlefield 3. Seems much more convinient to do so.

This is way stupid, even the answer from support. Buying a copy from retailer to gift? If we wanted to we'd already done it. I personally like digital distribution despite the need to download the whole game. That's something that contributed to me stopping me using ILLICIT copies of a video game. Steam is really amazing that way. And then there's also that genuine copies of video game are not easily found in my country. I saw a friend downloading a pirated copy of a game. The friend's birthday is close, and I wanted to purchase this game as a gift and have this friend create an Origin account. Tell you what? I'll let that friend use that pirated version. Less money for you EA.
