Re: [PS3] update 1.15 error

Does nobody see an issue with this suggested fix? How is changing my network settings supposed to fix a bad file? Seems sketchy to me.

Go to Network Settings and tweak setting, to where Primary and Secondary DNS pops up on screen, and set primary DNS to 208.67.222.222 and Secondary 208.67.220.220, then disable UPnP, complete settings, run test, and should pass, when completed, go disable Media Server Connection. This actually worked for me. Three days of this and this worked.

Don't question it just do it, I'm the one who posted the solution originally but i took it from an insane guy on BF4 forums so i do feel he deserves credit too.

Anyways this worked im glad i could help out as many people as i could credit for the solution should go also to this crazy **bleep** guy.. I didn't follow a single step except number 4.Here is the  post of the guy who figured it out, i just cut out all the crazy S*** lol  DO NOT DO ANYTHING BUT STEP 4 if your reading this.

After 1 day, and 7 hours of agonizing horror, error codes, and corrupted data, i Googled everybody's responses on the fix, and there methods did not work, so i took a journey to find this problem for my benefit, and this is where the 7 hours came in. This is the crazy insane method i figured out how to get it to install. Ok.............Lets get to it!

    1. If you downloaded the update, go into Game Save Data and delete corrupted data, including the BF4 data thats not corrupted (yeap, gotta redownload EVERRRYYTHING).

    2. Go to System Settings on PS3 and hit System Restore, when this is done you should se a list of 10 to 12 items that will be restored including Network Settings , hit ok, after its done cut PS3 OFF.

    3. Go into Safe Mode, if you dont know how, GOOGLE/YOUTUBE IT, to much to explain, and i know yall wanna play like i do/did. Hit Restore Database 1st, ok it, when done repeat Safe Mode process and hit Restore File System 2nd.

    4. When thats done set your PS3 back up, including Network Settings, but this is the trick part, select custom, and tweak setting, to where Primary and Secondary DNS pops up on screen, and set primary DNS to 208.67.222.222 and Secondary 208.67.220.220, then disable UPnP, complete settings, run test, and should pass, when completed, go disable Media Server Connection.

    5. When done, cut PS3 off, restart and start game, update screen 1.15 should appear, press O, then game data will automatically install and complete. Trick part again, after it completes, cut PS3 off wit console button, but eject disk 1.5 seconds after you hit console off button.

    6. Let PS3 sit for 3 seconds, and reactivate by sliding disk thru drive, and when it powers up, install battlefield disk, when update screen comes on, select OK. It should install after download................finally.

Like i said, now the crazy part is you gotta download the FS DLC 1st, well i did to be safe from Playstation Store (Premium Members for Now) in New <Games <Add-ons <scroll over to all new add-on button, and scroll all the way down till you see it on your left side, after you download and install it, go download all your other DLC as well.

If this insane method works for you as it did me, add x__Johnny_5-__x, and lets roll out.

  • I'm just curious as to why we have to change our network settings to make this file install. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm hoping someone can explain the reason.

Well the problem was always obviously in the connection because people outside the Southeast recieved the same expansion and were successful so the file itself is not corrupt but there is some sort of hiccup in the download process.. Something is not transferring correctly so changing your DNS seemed to me like it would be a possible solution..

Anyways its not going to blow up your PS3 and I recommend going back to default afterwards,  The DNS address itself opens to a website called OpenDNS which is designed as a fix to people having DNS issues as well. You can google openDNS and check out the site if you feel apprehensive

If your ISP is having issues with its DNS service, switching to OpenDNS' DNS will get you back online in just a few quick steps. Follow the instructions for your operating system or router below.

Your step by step instructions were very helpful. I tried the DNS change previously without restoring the files and the installation would not work; so thanks for spelling it out.
