Re: [PC] MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner issues with Fall Patch

Hi @Press-2-Continue - thanks for telling the community that this software is not compatible. As your subject text "has stopped working" is not very descriptive for this I've taken the liberty of changing it so your fellow gamers can easier find this thread. I hope that was ok.

Is this by any chance only in DX12 ? Many applications might have compatibility issues with DX12 games when they improve the DX12 code. If this is the case you probably have to wait for updates for these applications, you can help the issue along by reporting the issue to the developers of these applications.

It would appear that the MSI afterburner+Rivatuner issues are solved by going back to DX11, but this now gives me the issue's I had in DX11 where the game would freeze for 5 seconds at a time every 30 second to 5 minutes even before the patch, That is why I changed it to run under DX12 as that solved that issue for me.Also since this issue only started after the fall update this would be an issue on your side causing it to stop working if MSI afterburner+Rivatuner are turned on in DX12 and not an issue with the software itself as that is the latest version as I had stated before.

So I now have a game I am unable to monitor my temps/useage etc while in DX12 due to the fall update on BF1 or revert back to an unplayable game in DX11 where the game would freeze completely then revert back to being able to be played after 5 seconds which happens every 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

DX12 is rather new, there's very few DX12 applications. This means applications like Afterburner is still getting used to DX12 and needs to make some updates to cover all that DX12 changes, so if BF1 adds to it's DX12 implementation and Afterburner don't handle this change well it's not DICE's fault.

If you have issues with DX11 we can see if we can fix that instead. Is the DX11 freezes also fixed by turning off these applications by any chance? Does the DX11 freezes occour if you play after a clean boot?

The DX11 probelms are from a clean boot, they appear when both MSI and riva are turned off or on, The install of windows 10 is also a fresh install (All current updates done) which was done before I installed BF1, No other games react the same way as BF1does. Diablo 3,Starcraft 2, BF4 along with many other games all work fine with no issue's.

Really do you not think that from a fresh install using only the latest drivers and actually being more intellegent that someone who sits and reads from a drop down box would not know how to perform a clean install of said driver's, No wonder tech support for any company gets a bad rep,

That sentence didn't make much sense. But if you are wondering why I asked to use DDU after a clean Windows install it's because Windows sometimes like automatically installing old Nvidia drivers after a clean install which can sometimes cause issues.

There's also a new 375.86 Battlefield 1 game ready Nvidia driver out you might want to try.

I can see your BF1 has crashes due to the DirectX dll that handles the graphics interface so something odd is definitely going on in your system and it could be a tough one, especially if you are going to insult me AND mistake me for working for EA each time.

And considering the last 2 nvidia driver updates gave me the same problem that was supposed to have been and advertised as "game ready drivers" the latest one isn't going to work either but i'l play along with this game and no doubt will have the exact same issue in an hour when its done and installed and i come to try to play the game again

No need for the negative attitude. Have you tried disabling Origin In Game in Origin?

No need for the negitive attitude you say. I have a £50+ game that functions like its running on a ZX Specturm other games run perfectly fine in DX 11 Battlefield 1 doesn't and hasn't worked fine for me in the last 3 "game ready drivers" pushed out by Nvidia, The update today screwed over MSI afterburner and Rivatuner so I am now unable to monitor the gpu and cpu temps and useage, You are following a standard line of questioning have you done X have you done Y, I am not your typical 13 year kid who has just come into PC gaming, I have been gaming on Pc for 19 years, So when I say there is a problem running the game in DX11 that no Nvidia GPU driver is going to fix then I mean it, I don't use cloud or any other bloatware EA puts in with origin and this goes for the in game overlay, So what is next you wish to think is causing the problem that the last 3 nvidia updates didn't fix in DX11 but switching to DX12 fixed? Maybe I should stand on my head whiel the game is loading and play backwards maybe?

Answers HQ is a place where gamers help each other with technical issues. The people trying to help you in here haven't made the game, they just want to help and treating people bad in here is just disrespectful - I've played for just as long as you but that's no excuse for acting badly.

Afterburner and Riva tuner is known for causing all kinds of issues. Can't blame any game they cause crashing in, I can recommend https://www.camwebapp.com/ for monitoring, I find it way better.

Except Cam doesn't work for me in BF1, So not only can I not monitor my hardward while in DX12 mode I'm now stuck using DX11 that freeze's every 30second to 5 minutes at a time for around 5 seconds regarldess of which GPU driver's I'm using.Oh and now the old issue of you are offline even though I'm connected online Origin shows me online, Youtube is playing in the background and I'm able to write this message. How do I go about getting a refund from this pathic company for a broken game that hasn't worked properly in DX11 since launch and now doesn't work in DX12 properly either

CAM also doesn't work? 😛 Seems your computer might have some serious issues not related to BF1.

Oh please of course lets blame my computer for cam not working for BF1 when its been reported that People have been having issues with Cam with origin games and BF1 even on Cam's of website section, Interesting how you missed the fact that I now can't even use my Origin to play any game since it thinks I'm offline after I installed that Cam software, even after it has been removed and CCcleaner has been run to remove everythign else Origin now doesn't work so good job.

The CAM issues with Origin was due to both having overlays and seem to have been fixed. Even before that it could be fixed by turning either overlay off.

The reason you are having issues with Origin login is due it it having issues atm. so a seperate issue and not related to CAM.

Oh really when a friend within the same country managed to log in without issue's when I was having issue's but * it clearly you not actually offering any help because you still haven't helped with the DX11 freezing problem that the new GPU driver still didn't fix and now you think its my computer itself when it isn't since it worked fine yesterday before the patch in DX12 mode with MSI+riva and now I can't play the game while i monitor my system. * refund time it is for this broken * POS. Next time if you cant help don't offer anything

That's enough of this rudeness, I'm locking the thread.

We can't guarantee that 3rd party programs will work in all situations, so disable those that are known to have problems.
