What do you mean by the Command Prompts? Things like displaying frame rate, etc from the Console commands? Or are you talking about the Comma Rose Commands? You can use the Comma Rose Commands on a gamepad while playing Battlefield 4 on PC. You do this by holding down RB (on an Xbox Controller) and using the joystick to scroll over and select which command you want.

When playing battlefield 4 campaign made, I have to use the keyboard for some of the controls. (My hud displays keyboard icons (T34V) instead of gamepad icons (YXBA) during play. It is like gamepad controls exist but do not display correctly on the screen. I cannot find a way to have the game display the gamepad buttons on the screen.
Try using the D-Pad on your gamepad for those commands. That is what they are on the gamepad. The ones on the bottom of the screen are in the order they are located on the gamepad (up, down, left, right).
