Battlefield 1 Revolution Edition is an insult to Standard Edition Owners!

I own Battlefield 1 'Standard Edition' which I bought around the time it came out awhile ago. I never got the Premium Pass because at the time I could not afford it and I would have gotten it a few days ago during Battlefest but when I did get paid and had enough finally recently your sale to get it was over. I see I can buy 2 of the DLC for $15 each at $30 total currently or even various other kits. That part is fine, I understand it there.

However, I am now also seeing a newer offer and this is the real slap in everyone's faces which is the new 'Battlefield 1 Revolution' that includes the Game + Premium Pass for the same price that was paid originally even though obviously updates and rates change as time goes on somewhat but regardless that was pretty much for the standard edition a year ago. I do not even see any options to upgrade from what I have to the Standard to Revolution which would technically be just $10 difference if anything so you are pretty much robbing SE owners blind.

This is extremely insulting to myself and to any other gamer who got the Standard Edition like I did not to mention the cost of a Premium Pass is the same price as the standard game if I were to buy it by itself which is absolutely never going to happen unless it goes on sale again at some point.

  • As said it happened both with BF3 and BF4, so yes better for you to wait for a special offer on the premium pass.

Or you try to trade in the Base game and get decent money for it and buy  back the revolution edition, and be cheaper off in the end compared to what you already paid for your base and what you would need to pay now for premium on top.

  • This is nothing new, it happened for me the same with BF3, bought the game plus a premium pass at the time of the first DLC, at that point I knew I would continue playing so investing in a premium pass that woul give me all DLC for less than buying them standalone seemed logic, and also then later during the games lifecycle the all-in offer came (I think it was called deluxe edition at the time). Also then base + premium for such a low price that people who paid full price for both scratched their heads.

But it's valid marketing, you'll need to have an interesting offer to get people invest in a one  year old title considering there's quite the competition out there.

Yes I fell for it again with BF1, again paid full price for base with a preorder and premium, I still enjoy the game so I have no grief over it, OK I'm in the lucky position that I can financially afford it without blinking my eye. I do feel however for people who really have to save up or wait for their payday to afford this, and I can imagine to them this must feel a bit disrespectful.

On the other hand I did also benefit from it. I picked up BF4 for  €5,- and afterwards got each DLC expansion pack for free during the road to Battlefield promotions. So in the end I had the complete game for just  €5,- and still enjoyed it.

Yeah, I think i'll just wait for another premium pass sale to come along to get it. I am not knocking the game, its fantastic, just this part that is insulting. Kinda wondered if any of the previous bf games had this problem or not. I own bf3 but never really got into that one as much as this one.

  • unfortunate but it happens to all games... i have family that aint got a clue what to get me as presents, birthday etc..so ps vouchers come in handy and build up my 'wallet' to get passes/dlc,bit late for this but was a lesson learned a while ago

  • that's cool, wish my family would do that but they dont, instead i get everything else except video game stuff so i am usually on my own for getting any video games and dlc that i want
