To clarify, i execute BF2042 --> Easy Anticheat pop-up appaear --> BF2042 black windows appaear --> i wait ---> the process is kill and i come back to Origin Launcher (see the attachement)
I have tried essentially everything suggested in the mutliple threads (I am running an R9 5900 (stock) + EVGA 3090, 64GB RAM so it cannot be a hardware issue, everything works fine in BF V or any other game):
-reinstalling/verifying files
-installing on my C:/ drive instead of secondary drive
- running as admin (EAC installer, bf2042.exe and EAC launcher)
- few other steps, such as enforcing verified drivers, reinstalling drivers etc. from a troubleshooting page
I am 99% sure it's some stupid false positive with the anti cheat of course.
I managed to get from basically no errors, to sometimes getting this:
Application popup: BF2042.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.
Curiously sometimes I get a popup with the title "windows explorer" saying "Easy anti cheat untrusted system file (c:windows/system32/combase.dll)
and sometimes I see an EAC generic error linking to the generic troubleshooting page.
** Now I do have to add that I am running the Windows insider/developer preview build, so not the latest stable, I am really hoping that is the case. I've turned off the dev preview so I'll be back to the normal build once it's released as stable.
Alright,
could we check that Battlefield 2042 and EAC is accepted through the firewall?
https://pureinfotech.com/allow-apps-firewall-windows-10/
Be sure to tick public and private since I dunno what network setup you have.
I've disabled everything i could find on windows defender. firewall settings is also disabled.
I've ecountered problems with the real-time scan in defender earlier with Forza so that was the first thing i checked...
BF and EAC is also accepted in firewallBF2042 is autorised in the firewall (Firewall1) and i have already add EAC Launcher (Firewall2) but no change.
Okay, lets do a OS file check:
Right click your windows icon and open command prompt (admin)
Type in:
dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Then hit enter, once done do the same for:
sfc /scannow
Once done restart your PC and check windows updates.
If the scans fail let me know.
It's done :
- dism.exe
- Sfc /scannow (many errors find, see the attachement).
- Reboot
- Make Update (one update Find : Netframework)
- Reboot again
- Launch BF2042
No change.
Okay,
Make sure Origin is closed.
Now navigate to: C:\ProgramData\Origin but this time delete everything but the LocalContent folder.
If you are running the game through steam, clear the download cache.
Restart, then test the game
yes, i m in steam.
Done but same result..
Can I try playing it on EA play?
I have the game on Origin.
Okay,
Im out of ideas at this moment in time, you could reinstall the game just in case the stuff we fixed and updated with the OS has created a more stable base to install the game than it did before.
I will forward this post to other staff if they have any idea's.
Yes thats fine, if it was a Origin issue then that would resolve it technically but we already did stuff to check it wasnt Origin, but heck it cant hurt to try. :P
oh well, never mind...
I can't see Battlefield 2042 from EA app. I can only see Battlefield 3
Ah its probably cuz its not in a default location and is finding it difficult to locate it. . .
Saying that it gives me an idea to add a suggestion for the app 🤔I'm nor sure if it was the update, but I have some progress, next error! :D

yourphone.exeI'm not sure who was being refered about firewall, but I am using Bitdefender and I have tried with Firewall and Ransomware remedeiation completely off (considering the other one is blocking access to some files)
I am also having the issue where the EAC opens, then a black screen in the top left corner before crashing.
I am now getting the "Error cod: 300005 (CreateFile failed with 32).
When googling that you get something about "EasyAntiCheat.sys" in the system/32/drivers folder, however I do not have this file?
I copied EasyAntiCheat.sys from C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat to C:\Windows\System32\drivers manually and it didnt work, not even after repairing.
@Maticbwhile I don't have an answer, I concur with your past post about this possibly being EAC having a false positive on a program file that is benign to begin with
I think the combase.dll error is the main giveaway, there's indeed a conflict, the main issue is how to identify the conflicting file?
I sadly don't have an answer to that, the faster possible answer would be to have a fresh win10 install (full, not just file refresh) and don't install anything that is not just the basic drivers like GPU and then test to launch the gameJust had a word with another volunteer, s/he mentioned that it could be a process or app causing the conflict.
Could you do some detective work and disable any background processes or apps that may cause the issue?
They did mention it could be damaged system files or drivers but we have been through that.
I've now done a full chkdsk and sfc scan now, and I'm not getting any errors anymore (the create a file error), the splash screen just goes away, and "BF2042.exe" is running with no cpu usage and no ram, it just runs indefinitely until I kill it.
I also don't understand the missing "EasyAntiCheat.sys" file in system32/drivers, should it install that when I hit repair/install service? Because I'm not getting that.
EDIT: Also side note, I am getting absolutely nothing when launching via steam or origin, the only way to get anything out of it is to launc directly in the install folder via BF2042_launcher.exe
- @Maticb hmm, interesting
the fact that you did have files fixed there means the guess it's not far off, it is indeed something related to the OS/and-or programs on your system
this is looking more difficult and time consuming to track, and since you already had OS files with issues, I would suggest to just backup, wipe the drive and do a full install, seems to be the easier and less time consuming way to be done with it @The_Tibber Now it's running fine.
These are the following step I took:
1- run Battlefield, origin and anti-cheat as admin
2- delete every cache in the AppData "origin" file(leaving only the "local" folder)
3- uninstall EA app (it had some conflict with origin)
4- allow origin, Battlefield and anti-cheat in firewall
6-

8- end of your sufferance
this may not help everyone but it did work for me.
- @metin2grafics yeah, that's the most common issue, having to clean up the cache for Origin is one of the first things to do
I'm gonna guess @Maticb already did this, so it's not this issue

I'm gonna guess @Maticb already did this, so it's not this issuewell that's cuz we had totally different problems... My game didn't even start. After the loading, there was no battlefield.exe in the task manager.
also re-installing origin and battlefield was what solved it. But it wouldn't hurt to do the stuff @The_Tibber said.
People don't like re-installing the game cuz it takes too much time. In my case, I can download the game in 25 min (26 mb/s in download)
