Re: Will Battlefield 2042 get the new EA (in-house created) Anti-Cheat?

Is this the kernel based anti-cheat you're talking about. I'm not sure I want EA playing around with a root kit on my PC.

No thanks.

This is no more or less egregious than EAC. EAC is also a kernel mode driver which autoupdates. It could be modified and used as so-called "rootkit" without any user knowledge. It really just comes down to who you trust.

There is only one reason EA is developing its own anticheat. And It isn't to be a better anticheat. Its about money and not wanting to pay 3rd party for their AC solutions, like they do now.

@DigitalHype EA is a multimillion dollar company. That creates games for us all to enjoy (and discuss here). There is no logical reason why they would modify their own Anti-cheat software to become a rootkit to do harm or other nefarious activities to anyone's PC. Once again the only reason anyone would have for not wanting to use EAC is that they already have kernel level cheats (which ARE being used nefariously). The reasoning behind the EAC is more likely to be the fact that third party software must be ported into a game to provide functionality and protection. The vertical-integration of EA creating the EAC are the abilities simply integrate the Anti-cheat into the new games being developed. Also to be able to control the updating and patching to guarantee functionality and protection. There might be some validity to the fact it is also better conserve funds by using your own in house program coders to write the Anti-cheat software. More than likely EA is also providing a higher level of security to prevent other (cheat creators) companies from accessing the source code of the Anit-cheat. Which has happened with other third party Anti-cheat software (easy anti-cheat currently integrated into Battlefield 2042). I appreciate your input.

    Cheers!
