This is no more or less egregious than EAC. EAC is also a kernel mode driver which autoupdates. It could be modified and used as so-called "rootkit" without any user knowledge. It really just comes down to who you trust.
There is only one reason EA is developing its own anticheat. And It isn't to be a better anticheat. Its about money and not wanting to pay 3rd party for their AC solutions, like they do now.
