I may be wrong but Old Guard card is now a replacement of Veteran DogTag.

EA has essentially eradicated all and any 'honor' or distinction related to if a player had any prior Battlefield game experience or not!
Remember, nobody should feel ashamed or not included in these so 'modern' PC days...
So the "Old Guard" card is only referring to if you made a pre-order or not. (paid a premium price to EA to be allowed to play on their pre-Alpha BR game)
And then the only other reference to BF Veterans in the game is the Player Card Tag named "Seasoned Vet".
But here again, this is awarded just based on your BF2042 game activity, namely by just having won one game round on each of the new BF2042 maps...
Total wishful-thinking on my part but I suppose there's a chance one could be added later on. It'd be nice if that happened anyway, even though it's probably unlikely.

Just yet again one more clear sign that BF2042 has no Battlefield spirit or soul. And no logic line of thought behind what it really is supposed to be. Its a hazardous mishmash of various components taken from other popular games in current times, without any clear identity of its own.
- @CyberDyme Yea I removed the game anyway since PS5 storage is limited this game doesn't really worth staying even on the main screen for me , so yeah that's it unless they do something about it I'm sure majority of people like us will leave the franchise so it was a good run I guess?
DICE, the current DICE team, for whatever strange reasons, clearly despise long time BF players and fans of the franchise.
I do think it also has something to do with some of the current powers that be at DICE being jealous of, and therefore despising, those DICE Devs that made hits like BF4 and BF1.
That or they’re are living in dream world where they think they can reimagine Battlefield in the image of trash like Apex Legends and Fortnite and that fans will still think it’s Battkefield.
Whatever the cause of the cognitive dissonance between DICE team 2042 and the reality of the world we live in, they clearly are out of touch and apparently could care less about what fans of the franchise want or like.
It’s all truly bizarre.

But they focused on other issues rather than the gameplay
