Keyboard causing stutter and high CPU usage.

I recently bought a new keyboard which is causing huge input lag and the mouse will move erratically. I noted that my CPU usage shoots up to 95%+ at the same time. When I unplug the keyboard, they CPU usage drops to around 55-60% and I can then interact normally using the mouse with instant response.

My old keyboard was a Corsair K70, the new keyboard is a GMMK 3 Pro.

Nothing new added to my system apart from keyboard software which has no overlay. I have also disabled the software when running the game, which doesn't solve the issue.

Game runs perfectly fine with the K70, but really has issues with the GMMK. I tried lowering the poll rate as much as possible, the lowest it can be set is 1000hz.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • Is the keyboard capable of polling over 1,000Hz? If so it appears Battlefield doesn't like keyboard polling rates over 1,000Hz.

I know of two options to lower the keyboard's polling rate to 1,000Hz.

    - Plug the keyboard into a USB 2.0 hub. Then plug the USB hub into the PC.

    - Download LordOfMice and downclock the keyboard to 1,000Hz.

    Hope it helps!

Thanks for the reply, yes the keyboard can be set up to 8000hz. I have it set to 1000hz at the moment but it still causes issues. I have a hub, i'll give it a try and let you know if it solves the issue.
