Maybe it wasn't the hard counter before the recent anti vehicle buff to the attack chopper but over the weekend I saw Attack Choppers take out Wildcats in 1 vs 1 on numerous occasions.All they need to do is hit flares when you target them with anti air missiles and then pound you with their rocket pods. They then simply hover above the Wildcat which cannot point up or turn the turret quick enough while the chopper waits for their flares to reload and finish the Wildcat off.The Wildcat 30mm cannot compete and the anti air missiles are nullified by flares. I haven't tried the other Wildcat ammo types yet. Maybe they can compete?

@Tank2042Man Slow rate of the 40mm, not to mention the combined slow travel rate, makes it not very useful. We won’t even mention the useless 57mm, unless you ignore air and focus on anti-vehicle. The Wildcat has been the most useless AA of any of the series. I love AA, and couldn’t be bothered to use it in 2042.

Imagine any game where the only mobile AA platform isn’t feared or respected by any aircraft. Yikes. Hop on any portal game and fire up the BF3 AA tank. That things melts aircraft and pilots damn well fear and respect that AA tank. That’s because it’s not a product of the 2042 team. It’s basically replicated from BF3(and a great replication at that!). To 2042 pilots, the Wildcat is like that annoying mosquito that keeps buzzing your ear.

The vehicle balance is all over the place in this game. Meanwhile jets (especially if ATG missiles are not equipped) are severely underpowered vs wildcats

@Tank2042ManTheoretically the wildcat also has the 60mm flak passenger seat but the odds that someone is in there when you need them and actually shooting at what they are supposed to shoot is quite low.The Wildcat could use an APS option. Until then I would be using Irish and his APS gadgets to shoot down the missiles before they hit the Wildcat. It is a bit disturbing how important Irish is for the safety of a ground vehicle in Rocketfield 2042

That's not the point.
If the attack chopper approaches the Wildcat in a straight 1 vs 1 duel, both vehicles are facing eachother, both players are looking at eachother, there's no surprise attack, the attack chopper wins.
That's not supposed to happen.

@Tank2042Man This much I'll add, little unaware helo is sitting duck, but yep can agree, if ac goes for wildcat, it pretty much obliviates especially with gunner + buffed rockets and with AGM.

@Man_iLoveFishingthis is one of the reasons that jet only slots would help to make sure the ACs pay for specializing vs ground only.
I am curious how that AC vs Wildcat encounter would change with sufficient APS countermeasures

So? It’s not supposed to be a “fair” duel. If you’re not using the ridiculous range of the AA to your advantage you don’t deserve to use it.

The AA being “weak” is one of the few things this game gets right.

But to be fair, the Wildcat cannot take down a competent jet player. It's impossible, and I'm not being hyperbolic.
For the jet to take out a Wildcat or a Wildcat to take out a jet, both target vehicles need to be already damaged.
