Re: College Football 25 - Game crashes to Xbox dashboard

So you purchased a this year XBOX Series X? That would rule out my theory that its us original year 1 purchase buyers and points now to the overall code EA uses ,  but this still make zero sense because some people are playing no issue so it has to be a console hardware coding bios/operating system version.

They need to run this game in debug mode on of our xbox series x and see where the crash is happening in the code, for all of us its really easy to duplicate just load the game and try to get any mode started after picking the game options.

But even the play options before you click start say in exhibition mode will cause my game to dashboard if I try to actually start the game the NCAA 2025 screen comes up and locks up my xbox series x completely requiring a total  hard reboot of unplugging the power cord and the HDMI from my game Samsung TV  to get my xbox to actually come back on and load.

    I messed up and bought a refurbished Xbox from GameStop. So your theory might be in place. I’m about to go and buy a brand new one.

    @Br4ydnK I'm pretty sure it can be fixed. This is the first ea game where I had this issue. We just have to hope they patch it quick.

    @Br4ydnK This should be a easy fix
    1. EA needs to contact one of us find our model the exact model that was released and run debug mode on the coding while they try to load each screen mode game screen. Or one of us sacrifice and send our xbox series x to them so they have it to run the same steps above. They find the U.I code where its crashing do a firmware update which includes our version along with everyone who still does work and we get back to gaming. But until someone from the Actual Hardware/Dev Software team reaches out to us to do a 1 to 1 phone conversation of options , we got no answer to this on Madden last year.

    @wgdesignsgaming You mentioned not getting an answer on the issue from madden last year. Did it never work then? Or when did you gain access to madden?

    @bkennard419 never worked and the EA Team never responded to any of us outside of this A.I type response we are getting today asking the same questions putting to the same troubleshooting article I just gave up. I just played the old gen version (which never crashed) as when you purchased the deluxe last year Madden version you got a copy of the old gen xbox and the xbox series x version. The xbox series x version never loaded you would get to the same screen of game play setup options go to launch a game the EA symbol would spin and crash everytime. Every update for the game that came out I hoped would resolve but all those updates were for features and roster updates nothing to the actualy Hardware I'm assuming because they have so many people with new consoles that do work we are just a casuality to them.

    @wgdesignsgaming Sheesh. That sucks. So I talked with Xbox support. The troubleshooting says the last step is to reset the entire Xbox deleting everything, all games etc and do it twice to make sure no corrupt files. I’ve done all other steps except this one (just reset to factory settings without deleting games) Seems excessive. Have yall done this final step? Or is it pointless to try?

    @bkennard419yup we all have done this , first off that's not an acceptable answer for us to have to delete everything on our system , its EA Dev/Testing/Program team responsibility to make a game that works on every model of x-box series x /s PlayStation that they have a purchase button for. If they don't fix the issue this year now that its only Xbox series x and PlayStation 5. I'm going to find out how to cause a reason to sue petition if we don't get a response from them this year with a solution . Like I said lots of games had this issue with my Xbox series x but the developers did release patches for game/hardware support that resolved them in a an acceptable time frame.

    EA, are you currently working on a fix for this? A patch is needed. No more tricks for trouble shooting that obviously do not work

    I unfortunately don’t think they care that much since it’s only a section of the player base. Same thing happened with Madden 24, unfortunately the only options that seem effective is buying a new Xbox or getting a refund. And I’m not gonna get a new Xbox just because only EA games fail to run. Insane that this only happens with their games but then still blame it on the user or device hardware

    Hey Everyone, 

    Thanks for the information that has been shared so far for anyone experiencing crashing on an Xbox. 

    First to check if you haven't please try the following steps:

    Xbox Series X|S

    Spoiler
    1. Make sure you have the latest software update.
    2. Perform a power cycle.
    3. Quit the game and other running apps from Quick Resume (For Series X|S consoles)
    4. Unplug any devices attached to the USB slot.
    5. Reinstall the game. If you're using an external hard drive, consider installing it on the internal drive to see if that helps.
    6. Clear the MAC Address.
      • From the Xbox dashboard, click Settings, then go to All Settings.
      • Go to Network, then Network Settings.
      • Click Advanced Settings, then Alternate MAC address.
      • Select Clear, then restart your Xbox.
    7. Delete the local saved data.

    If this continues please let us know the following:

    • Does this happen in a specific mode, or when performing a specific action?
    • Is College Football installed on the console's internal storage or external storage?
    • Do you have the latest updates, or are you on an insider build of Xbox?
    • Do you own College Football on your Xbox account or game share?

    I have the same problem but in Xbox. I can get into games then randomly the whole thing crashes on me.

     if you actually read our responses you would know that none of that works as we have already tried all of that multiple times. Throughly convinced this a a problem from EA’s end as this issue does not occur with any other game. My hardware is fine, please take some responsibility on this and fix your game.

    None of those steps work. This occurs in literally every game mode. I own the game, it is stored on internal storage and I have all the updates.

    Seems to be an issue on your end. Would be nice to be able to play the game we've waited a decade for, but oh well.

    @greatskunkape that's unacceptable. We are not trying to run this on a emulator/simulator not approved piece of hardware this is a console they built the game on being XBOX or Playstation. The amount of people in this forum alone is justification for a hardware firmware fix with the code they use. We don't even have an option to play previous Gen versions anymore so if they don't fix it this year someone has to be held accountable and the sad thing is only money aka (Sueing them ) seems like the only way to get their attention.

    This game is in early release, you have 8 pages of users telling you this game is crashing.  That is a problem.  What we need is an acknowledgement that this game needs a fix and when you will release that fix.  At this point in time the game is junk.  What you really need to your heads out of your backside is a class action lawsuit.  After almost a year Madden 24 is still garbage.

    It's not even all there games for me just madden and now cfb 25 don't know how some work but 2 don't and all the other ones that work for me are x/s versions

    @Skywalker6170 its most likely something in the U.I call when the EA logo/loading screens try to load, something does not like the hardware or code to load graphic drivers of that bit of code they used in all versions for next gen . Some bad piece of code for hardware support is causing these crashes.

    This crashing happens in every game mode in the middle of games and sometimes the menus

    it is installed internally on my Xbox series x.

    I have the latest updates and have a Xbox that is  NOT an insider edition (I have the standard series X)

    I own College Football 25 fully through preorder

    Happening for me too. Menus and practice mode work fine, everything else crashes within a play or two at most usually faster.

    Crashes every time, any game mode 

    Installed on internal hard drive 

    series x is completely updated
