HUD and Holograms Are Gone

I just installed Dead Space 3 for PC today, and got started playing. Everything was fine during the first level of gameplay, when you play the unnamed soldier looking for the codex. However, shortly after the beginning of the next scene, after leaving Isaac's apartment, all elements of the heads up display, such as health, disappeared. This also includes control interfaces on doors and other machines. However, strangely enough, the inventory screen still appears. This is making it very difficult to play the game, because I have no health indicator and no crosshairs. I've tried changing my video rendering modes a couple of times, as well as restarting the game, and neither have helped.

In addition to this, the mouse is missing on the main menus, and the dialog box pop-ups are gone (do you want to quit, etc.). The holograms and mouse cursor appear if I set the resolution to 1024x768, but playing at such a dismal quality on a high-end gaming PC is unacceptable.

I fixed this by making my settings custom unchecking all of them and going down the list until I found which setting was messing up everything. I can't remember which one it is exactly but I think it had something to do with the word Screen. So try what I did it should work

Confirmed. The option is called Screen Space Reflections in Custom Render Settings. Turn it off. Cheers for the tip.

Doesn't fix the main menu cursor though.

this half fixd the problem. i can see my gun effects and see door holo's but the bench and suit menus are still missing. i can move around the menus but cant see what im doing. its very weird as this just randomly started happening in chapter 13... worked fine up until thn and i didnt change any settings.

turned depth of feild off as well and it fixed the rest. very odd.

  • I managed to fix the problem by using AMD Catalyst to force v-sync, which sorted it out without having to disable any settings. Afterwards I alt-tabbed out and disabled it and the game still worked perfectly.

EDIT: It also allowed Fraps to work as before the FPS counter was blinking furiously in the top corner (I originally thought that was the problem)
