Re: Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge crashing & freezing

Disregard this post. I managed to go through it again and fix it.

Steps I took for anyone that has the same problem and gets confused by the many posts that give different steps:

  1. Download from Origin
  2. Launch game
  3. Download zip file from ddwrapper
  4. Extract and place "aqrit.cfg" and "ddraw.dll" into the Red Alert 2 directory
  5. Overwrite files if asked
  6. Open "aqrit.cfg" and set "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" to 1
  7. Launch game
  8. Download and install the CnCNet YR client
  9. Exit CnCNet YR client and launch Red Alert 2 normally through Origin
  10. Play

    @Daevawolf So I’m confused did you fix it with the list you made? I have the same problem it keeps freezing mid game I can’t even play the story with out it freezing randomly

    @Tiba1999 Yeah those are the exact steps (in order) I took when I managed to fix the game for myself.
    It allows me to play through the campaigns without any issues.

    It's 2024 and I'm on Win 10 - the solution still works like a treat! Thank you! My opinion - It should have been patched by the team looking after the game (in order to ensure compatibility with latest Win OS versions).
