Re: Dragon Age 2 - Enable Developer's Console within Origin.

Hmmmmm... That technique works for me.  😕mileysurprised:

The alternative is to create a desktop shortcut to the following "target" (include the quotation marks around the full path/file):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age II\bin_ship\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

Forgot to mention; it's a Mac. Not sure if that's why this thing is giving me fits lol. Thanks.

Initially, I type in -enabledeveloperconsole into Command Line Arguments.

    Then click 'Apply'.

I then click the 'Play' button, the launcher opens then promptly closes. The 'Play' button then remains greyed out for the next several seconds; but soon returns to its normal hue.

The game itself never starts. Driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

    ^^ It's totally this! ^^

Actually, I have no idea.  Don't have/never use a Mac, so can't help here.  😕mileyfrustrated:

  • I have the same problem!! Freakishly annoying, and because I am also a Mac user, it doesn't work with the other options (to simply apply "-enabledeveloperconsole" in the Target name of the game)....

I did that but it still doesn't work for me and I have a pc laptop.

  • @redwing1; Not sure how you're trying to do this, but the Developer Console does work perfectly with DA2 under Win10.

Depending on your specific install, there are two methods for activating it:

    1. If using EA/Origin, then type the following into the "Advanced Launch Options" tab under the "Game Properties" option when you right-click on the DA2 tile:

    -enabledeveloperconsole

    2. If using a desktop shortcut, then type the following into the "Target" box of the shortcut.(Including the quotes around the game path, and the space after them):

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age II\bin_ship\DragonAge2.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

[Change the path in quotes as required to match your specific setup.]

Unless you've done something really weird, (and I can't address any problems if using a Mac, or a pirated copy of the game) then those two methods will work 100% of the time.

Remember, the console command set for DA2 is very different from DAO's, and there's no "Angel Font" mod to let you see what you're typing!  😇
