Re: Dragon Age: Inquisition installation of physical copy to Origin on PC

If this helps anyone, I'll be glad because this has been one frustrating evening......

I bought the deluxe PC discs because like so many of you I did not want to wait for the digital download and got stuck with the Origin fiasco.  Here is what worked for me:

1) Insert Disc one and select "AutoRun ", this will take you through the Origins set up.  Go through this step and sign in for the Origins platform.

2) Inside the Origins platform, go ahead and enter your product key for the Deluxe version at this stage.  You can get to this from the Origin drop down menu "Redeem Product Key".

3) This is where I had messed up before 😕mileyembarrassed:  Inside the Origins box, click to go Offline.  Then you go into the Origin drop down menu again for "Download Que".  Once this box has opened, tell it to cancel your digital download that had started.  You HAVE to do this for it to start copying the discs.  It will give you a warning that you will lose all progress, but do it.

4) Open up your DVD/CD Rom drive, disc one should still be in there.  Close it again.  Now with Origins offline, you will be prompted to start the install again.  At this point, you should see it start to "Copy" from your discs.  You will be prompted to continue until disc 4.  When disc 4 finishes, don't eject.

5) Now tell Origins to go online once you have reached disc 4's completion.  This will start the game updating and finish any digital material from the deluxe edition.  This takes an additional 10 minutes maybe.

I had tried all the steps before without realizing that I needed to dump the digital progress.  Honestly, was afraid to do this in case the discs still wouldn't start working correctly.  At this stage, had four + hours in trying to get this forsaken game to start.  Talk about a buzz kill.  They pretty much killed the mood for tonight's gaming entertainment.

I wanted to write this because there was so much confusion regarding installing/uninstalling programs, etc.  This was the simple solution for me.  I have Windows 7 so there was no operating system error.

Best of luck to you all, hope this helped.

^ Dude, does it work for "error reading disc" problem? Cuz im pissed, got damn physical copy and still be unable to instal it from this damn dvd. Ugghr...

It's really annoying... i bought physical copy to just simply instal it within 10 min, not to **bleep** play with your funny installer for 3 hours just because it's literally **bleep**. Now i need to download whole game... i'll be lucky if it take 8 hours minimum at best... thanks EA! GG!

Never ever i'm gonna pre order anything.

And even now i can feel wrath of game bugs when i already install it... ffs...

I tried this, and for the first 30 seconds it seemed to be fully working. Then all of a sudden it couldn't read the disc anymore. I don't know what cheap garbage DVD's that they put this game on, but it seems that EA is fully incapable of making a game that just works. I literally (no lie!) have had to mess around with every single one of EA's games within the last few years in order to make it work, if I could get them to work at all. Don't ask why I keep buying their games, because my only answer is that I have been dumb enough to keep giving them chances. This is a FAIL company in the worst ways possible.

This worked for me, after hours and hours of trying and googling.

    Thanks so much, you're a star 🙂

I had the same problem , but with DA: Origins Ultimate Edition. I installed from the disc, and all went ok. When i installed the origin client, it automatically started downloading the game. With all concluded, i tried to launch the game, but a message telling me "insert the game disc" stop me. With the correct disk in drive, i tried via origin client, tried via original shortcut, but same message all the time.

I am writing this , because when i uninstalled the game, uninstalled origin client, and installed the game again from disk, all is working now. Origin client never more.
