Re: Game won't Recognize XBox 360 USB Controller - Can't switch back to Keyboard

First off, go to your Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save Under there, delete ProfileOptions and ProfileOptions_profile, then run the game, should recreate those and set it back to mouse/KB so you can at least do something.  Worked for me. Also, my 360 controler wasn't working either. If I went under Devices and Printers, right clicked on the Xbox 360 controller For Windows, and selected Game Controller setting, it showed my Roccat Tyon mouse as a game controller and some XInput virtual controller. I disable the Xinput thing under Device Manager->Human Interface devices , and swapped out to my M65 mouse, which doesn't show up as a game controller, I was then able to use my 360 controller. It appears if ANY other controller shows up under Game Controllers, this broken game won't recognize the 360 controller. It's almost but not quite as broken as Far Cry 4.

  • Thanks,

I'm going to give that a try  I do have a TM joystick and a logitech wheel plugged I to other USB ports too. Will disconnect those and check CP device manager to make sure that the 360 controller is the only one the system recognizes as such.

If that works I'll flag thread as solved. Won't be until this evening though.

EDITED to ADD: Bill's solution worked perfectly. Only one controller can be connected at a time and it has to be - surprise, surprise - the XBox 360 controller.

My 360 controller has stopped working since the latest patch. Working fine with every other games. Game detects my controller but nothing happens when I press start or anything.

1 - Unplugged all other USB

2 - Disabled all others HID or controllers in Device Manager

3 - Controller working fine on all other games.

Coudn't bare the game control with kb+m so unfortunately I would have to wait until it's fixed. Sigh.

Same problem here. My XBOX 360 controller works in all my other games like Mordor and RYSE. But Biowares Dragon Age Inquisition refuses to recognize it. Its like some janky game from the 90's.

DA:I is 100% compatible with any Xbox Controller, without additional software - and still is with latest patch.

All you need to do is to install the common Xbox Controller Driver and to start the controller before you start DA:I.

If the patch broke something, reinstall the driver or reset the DA:I settings (to reset the settings => delete ProfileOptions_profile in %userprofile%\documents\bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save).
