Having the same exact issue. Also female elf mage. The only solution ive found is to not use that armor piece, which is a shame because its the best looking piece i have.

agreed. It's my favourite and I don't want to stop using it.
Thanks for the posts, just to check, it's the same issue as pictured here?
It's been affectionately named the "noodle arms" issue and we are investigating.
sadly no. The arms completely disconnect at the shoulder from the body, floating down by the mid chest and colliding INTO the body. WHen my character gestures the fingers distort and the hand stretches in a bizzare way.
I've tested other armors and it ONLY happens when i have the enchanter's mail arms equipped. Any other arms it odesn't do it iwth. THe obvious answer is 'don't use that armor' but A: I Like that armor and B: It's the best one I have.
I'm trying not to be a pain about it, it's just disappointed and immersion breaking.
The arms also stretch strangely, squishing out in the center making the armor hover off the body
I encountered this bug when I added Enchanter Arms to my armor. It instantly made my arms detach and move down and back a few inches. Really strange.
Since hotfix, the bug occurs now in game, not only in cutscenes!!
Elf female mage
Win 8.1, GFoce GTX 970, 344.80 driver
Edit: i think the bug occur only with arms upgrade. The name is (in french) "Brassard d'enchanteur tenace imprégné"
Edit2: no problem with another upgrade "brassard d'enchanteur agile absorbant"!
In reference to the noodle arms haha, I have had this graphical glitch once or twice but the major issue i have been having and it seems to be the cause of a lot of these clipping issues and graphical glitches is the elf male shoulders are extremely close together. This seems to cause the biceps to fold in at 45 degree angles to meet the shoulders and makes them bend inwards freakishly. The elbows make up the difference and seem to bend to meet the bicep, and it creates these incredibly oddly proportioned arms and upper body. I don't mind the elves being lithe and skinny, I'm fine with them looking unique as a race and i appreciate you're trying to go in the opposite direction from cliche tall slender elves, but a body slider option to at least adjust it for the people who want a little wider shoulders, or if thats an issue and would affect armors, then PLEASE just let us use Solas model on male elves. He still has the small frame and 'elvish' look you guys have been going for without being more muscular or anything like that, but wouldn't look as absolutely ridiculous as my male elf does when he's back in Skyhold in the default civilian clothes. I don't want to be rude because i absolutely love this game and ive played DA:O and 2 4 times through each, but he has the body type of a 12 year old girl, but they have wider shoulders. It really does break immersion and i'm constantly distracted by that when im back at skyhold especially in cutscenes. out in the field i can make do with armors, although several with better stats aren't really an option because they don't have the bulkier shoulders like the ones i use which help fill him out a little more.
Fenriz in DA2 was definitely skinny and narrow but it was proportioned correctly, he still looked imposing and muscular for his frame and it didnt give him a concave chest or no shoulders. I mean when i stand next to Sera in the field she looks much more like a male than i do.
If it was just me obviously it wouln't be a big deal, but a google search shows several pages full of message boards and forums experiencing the same issue with the male elf model.
I appreciate your time, i don't know if its an issue you can fix, or if this is a design choice you are sold on and its set in stone, but in a game where you have practically 20 different permutations of gender, race and class and its all about choices and designing the character we want as an avatar, at least add 5 preset body types to select from like you have with the faces, and make one with Solas' frame or a similar, wider one.
(Oh, and If its possible to add an item like the class point reset to reset our appearances, that would be even more amazing so we don't have to re-roll. That would help immensely with a lot of faces people start to regret after a few hours, especially my human male who on ps3 the beards are set on too low a setting by default and they render like plastic with no definition, i know its only a last gen issue so i wish i could just at least go to a barber to change the hair and beards at the very minimum like Hawke could)
Still no solution for this bug?
I really want to equip those arms (they're prety cool, and the stats are good also) but I really can't stand playing with an Inquisitor with noodle arms ☹️

WTF! How long is it going to take to fix this *? My game is on hold till this is fixed.
Wish I never bought this game.
HI i just brought the game yesterday and yes this is the type of glitch im having for my DAI game of the year edition please fix it ,, its ruining my game experience not just me but all the people who are playing this game .....
when is the patch coming up to fix this glitch please update us its been 1 month.
@Ejdomingo These are community driven boards, not official EA technical help, asking us for a patch is pointless.
Further, there are no more patches planned for the game, as far as we're aware. Patch 10 was supposed to be the last patch, but Trespasser introduced many, many bugs, so they had to do an extra one.
If you would like to contact EA about your issue, you can do so here.
