Re: Fereldan Locks Glitch

There will likely be no fix since the quest is unimportant and does not affect the story in any way. Those side quests only gain you influence and power, and the only impact not finishing them has is that you can't clear them out of the journal. So it is extremely low priority for Bioware to implement a fix for it. This can happen with numerous versions of this quest, so if you do more of these requisitions, always do them first in a region or you can be locked out of finishing them.

I was wondering if it somehow it upgraded the prison to your castle? If not then I'm not concerned about it. Thanks for the info. In my second game I'll keep that in mind.

The only real fly in the ointment is that if you don't complete a requisition you get in a specific region (in this case, the Hinterlands), you won't get any more, ever. Now some would view this as a feature, not a bug, but it can be...problematic.

Incidentally i got to do the cages req twice in my current game, as they've added some Fereldan locks to the Templars you need to fight near the final destination in the Two Brothers subquest. Prior to this they had only been dropped by the Templars you first encounter when you go to the Crossroads. At first I was somewhat annoyed as the Crossroads Templars only dropped four (!) Fereldan locks, but later I got six more from the others...I think there are a couple you can loot from houses as well.

Yes it does prevent you from getting any more in the area, which is only really a problem early on in the game when you are still struggling to earn power and influence. But later in the game you realize they are just fetch quests, and some of them even ask you to use up valuable materials for 1 power and 100 influence. That is a very bad trade off when you have over 100 power you can't even spend and you can just buy influence from a vendor.

No, these quests do not affect anything in the game besides giving you power and influence. Any text you read is just flavor to make them seem more interesting. They are all essentially: go out, find 5 units of XYZ (usually by killing 10 of enemy ABC, or mining ore node DEF and GHI) and return to the requisition table for your power and influence reward.
