Still stuck in fade after character creation

I saw that the new dlc was out so I decided maybe I'll buy it. I opened up my game played my save a bit and then thought I'd make a new character. The same problem I had every time I tried to make a new character before. I don't even remember how I managed to make the character I have, luck I guess. I just can't believe this problem is still there. Are there any new fixes for this? What is going on with the dev team that they haven't fixed game breaking bugs like this, dlc is great but how about we get the game fully operational first.

Anyways any advice would be greatly appreciated, I tried all the stuff I found previously when I had this problem, just thought since there was a few patches something like this would have been addressed. Don't know if I am gonna spend the money on the new dlc if I can't even create a new character to play through the game again, kind of kills the replay value and it's there, if you can get past this bug.Kind of wish I would have just played on xbone, my husband never had any problems with the game, pc seems to be pretty bad.

  • This is a bug when you have a modified shortcut you use to start the game. Specifically if you have the 60 frames per second fix on your shortcut. If you start the game through Origin or using an unmodified shortcut, you will be able to get through the opening normally. You can then save after the opening cutscene, quit the game, and restart the game with your modified shortcut.

Be aware that fixes have been put in the game that make the modified shortcut unnecessary now, so you don't need to keep using it (unless you are unpatched).

Edit - Ignore the last comment.

I just launched the game from an unmodded shortcut, and the framerate is still locked at 30fps in cutscenes.

BioWare said they want to fix the 30fps cap, but that it would require core changes to the engine. Battlefield Hardline has the same problem.

    Thanks! I was misinformed.

Okay, so I got the game for PC today after playing for years on PS4. I knew being in the Fade like that wasn't normal, so I looked around the entire area, and I found a path on the far side. If you face the stairs when you first end up there, go behind it and a little to the left, and you'll see a pretty wide gap in the mountains that is climbable. Follow it, and keep going until you get over the next hill of the mountain. You'll find yourself overlooking the second broken bridge of the tutorial path(the one after the one you fall through with Cassandra). Go left and follow the path back to the first bridge. It will take some Skyrim-style mountain climbing, but you can do it. Once you go far enough back to the start, the screen will go black, and the game will begin as normal(though the opening cut scene you were supposed to get earlier WILL be a little glitchy until your first choice). This is obviously not a proper FIX to the problem, since you still have to trek back, and it does take a while, but if you spent hours on your character and don't want to lose them, this will at least save you from having to remake them, and give you a chance to save them.
