Re: the EA installer app says that I

I'm having the same issue. I can't connect Game Pass to EA Desktop/Play so wanted to uninstall and reinstall to try again. The built in uninstaller didn't work (it would crash at the end leaving a partial non-working install left over).

I ended up uninstalling using Bulk Crap Uninstaller, including 'leftover' files and have since used CCleaner and specifically deleted the registry entry mentioned in the link above. This has not worked.

Now my flow is: Click EA game on Xbox app, Xbox app tells me I need to install EA Desktop, click install and see the attached, click 'Launch EA Desktop', it opens system32 folder in Windows Explorer...

Really need help with this.

@congaquiet I managed to reinstall. It takes forever but...

You go in to RegEdit/Registry Editor -> Edit -> Find -> type 'EA Desktop' -> Find Next -> delete anything that seems to relate to EA Desktop -> press F3 ('find next) and repeat until you've been through everything. Repeat again but search for 'Electronic Arts'.

This is time consuming and also potentially dangerous as you are messing with Windows registry. Proceed with caution. In absence of a competent uninstaller from EA you don't really have much better option.

This did not work, I uninstalled everything in Regedit  under EA desktop and Electronic Arts and nothing has changed, reset my computer, the works this isn't a real solution.

For you, no. For me, yes. So it is a real solution, but it just doesnt work for you. Did you delete all the files in your file explorer that has to do with EA desktop that you can see and isnt hidden in the registry?

  • Yes I did, even the hidden files in program data, but it still said I had it installed, so I went into regedit and deleted everything with EA desktop or Electronic arts in the name, and it still says its installed.
