Re: Nobody Can Launch Their Games Since Forced Client Change Over

I've found that when I disabled my Avast Shields (Basically disabling my anti virus) that I was able to launch Dragon Age Inquisition. I've had it set to "Disable for 10 minutes". I'm not sure if it will force close the game after it comes back up but we'll see.

Is anyone else able to confirm whether or not the game they want to play works if they temporarily disable their anti virus? EA might be afraid to tell us this could work for legal reasons in case we got a virus while it was turned off and we forgot to turn it back on later.

So it works for Dragon Age Inquisition but is still bugged for The Sims 4.

EA, do something or put out a statement anything?

I posted in another thread. Called customer support and apparently they are aware and working on it. Asked if there was an issue tracker or bug report that I could follow and I was told to check these forums. So it is up to us users to monitor progress. Unbelievable!

No public statement or timetable for a fix. Unreal that a gaming corporation can fail this hard and can get away with treating its customers this way.

@jhay610 How frustrating that they know this is happening, and yet haven't said a single thing amidst the outpouring of reports and feedback. I haven't seen anything on their twitter about it either, meanwhile, they're advertising their volunteer playtesting program.

I tried the solution that the OP of this thread found and it didn't work for me unfortunately, so I guess I'm just supposed to wait for an unknown amount of time to play games that I've paid for ...
  • Before the switch, starting Mass Effect Legendary was:

    1) Double click on my desktop icon for the launcher.

    2) Origin flared up and went away at once and on its own.

    3) After 3-4 seconds the Launcher appeared in the window bar

    4) After another 2-3 Seconds the Launcher popped up and I could start MEx:LE

    Total: 6-8 seconds

Now, after the forced installation of the EA desktop app, it looks like this

    1) Double click on my desktop icon for the launcher

    2) EA desktop app pops up after 5-10 seconds. Big window I absolutely do not need right now, I am starting a game, for heavens sake!

    3) I instantly close the app, as I do not need it. Really. Why do I have to bother?

    4) Another 45-60 seconds (FORTYFIVE to SIXTY, YES!) later the Launcher pops up and I can start MEx:LE

    Total: 50-70 seconds

Are You Kidding Me? What the heck is that?

btw: The record I had to wait until the Launcher appeared so far was almost 3 Minutes.

Disabling Avast for 10 minutes allowed by to launch Dragon Age Inquisition as well. I then minimized the game and enabled them again without the game crashing.

  • @Coraychi I was redirected from Twitter to submit a bug report here by their official EA Help account peeps. Looks like backend stuff has a broken line of communication with their support, leaving everything in the dark.

@TheLeekRobin Ah, I see. I'd considered reaching out on twitter too, but it sounds like I'm not gonna get help from there either. :/

fyi, I found out what takes so long to start the Mass Effect Legendary Launcher: Cloud check

I manipulated a few save games, copied from ME2:OT to make them work with the new mod layout I have.

After waiting for almost a minute, a popup appeared that the cloud data can not be loaded, and that I might continue with local data. Then, after continuing with local, the launcher instantly started.

So, while the origin client always popped up instantly letting me choose whether to use local or cloud data, the EA Desktop App needs ages to do its checks, and then comes up with a totally confusing message? Weak.

Gotta say when they say they are working diligently to solve it, is a joke I have been requesting help for over a year as each and everyone of my games (29 in all) stopped working. The only thing they are diligently doing is ignoring us.

@TakeShotAction Disabling my Avast shields and adding an exception did not work for me when it came to Dragon Age Inquisition. I haven't been able to launch it at all since the changeover.

My games also won't launch. EA seems to just be pretending there is no problem.

Ive tried every path mentioned on google and it never works,Seems to work fine in other countries,Not merica lol

  • I am having the same problem. Forced into EA App and now nothing in my library will run. I get a message saying the problem is on their end, try again later. The error reporter is telling me the same thing. Origin worked just fine. I am just now looking into this but it appears this has been an issue for months. Let me reinstall Origin so I can play. I always played offline anyway.
