- @Toll_Gbg The only fix seems to be to create a new user for your child, and set the age to 15+. However, if your child purchased the extra bonus-pack/points from the original user, you will not be able to access these points from the new user you create (if I understand correctly).
EA needs to fix this problem, or find a way to reimburse the purchase.
But I am not holding my breath.... 😤 Does anyone know if the problem is related to the age set on your EA account or on your Playstation account?
Let's say your age was set to 18 years on your EA account but only 12 on your Playstation account, would it then work? Or does EA limit you based on the Playstation account setting?
I talked with ps network support earlier - they were able to amend my son's dob to make him 15 years old - he now has access to the ultimate team online and I can still impose restrictions.
It did take a while holding before I got through to someone, but it seems to have resolved the access issue. I'm not sure about the EAFC points though.
@felixok presume you had to convince them to change the DoB and presume your son isn't actually 15?...
Will be ringing them tomorrow to do the same. Can't believe it comes to lying to get something to work.
- @felixok What number did you call on / Where did you find a number. Struggling to find a number I can call. I'm UK Based though.
I used the chat function on PlayStation network, logged in on my PC and started off at number 90 in the queue, I reached an agent within an hour.
I told them the issue and that the only work around I was aware of was by changing the dob to make him 15 (and was upfront that it isn't his actual age - 13), the agent was happy to do that, after verifying that I was the account and card holder etc.
A couple of things to note - when accessing the chat function, I chose reason as 'refund required' and then 'game doesn't work properly'.
After running through the chatbot process, I was told that nobody was available and to try again later, but was also asked if I needed any other assistance I just repeated the process and the second time I got into the queue.
I still have to start the battle with EAFC to get the 4,000 EA points which were the reason for purchasing ultimate and early, so wish me luck with that!!
I can also confirm this method does work, again had to wait an hour but the agent was happy to change it once verified. Total farce that no one has taken responsibility but at least I will have a happy son this evening.
- @felixok thanks for info! Question: If the "age" of the profile is changed (and thus the child can access the game), won't the EA points also become available? (as long as the purchase was made on the same account)
Thanks so much. On the mission I go. Really appreciate the effort to get this answer for us.
An absolute farce but at least my son maybe able to play the game he's spent his hard earned cash on.
Thanks EA & Playstation for leaving it to the users to find a way round the bug. Be nice if they at some point acknowledge the problem!!
Sony point blank refused to update the DOB for my son, even gave a link to this and they did not care.
Exactly the same. An hour waiting for the agent and just refused to even do anything.
- @felixok did you not get any of the Ultimate edition extras once the DOB was changed?
I'm not entirely clear on the ultimate team mode and eafc points, but it appears that I received the points when I accessed the ultimate team mode using my own profile as part of my troubleshooting around this restriction issue.
Bonus points have therefore been assigned to that profile, where they won't be used as it's an adult profile with no ability to impose restrictions etc.
I'm intending to ask will EA move the points as a goodwill gesture?
I tried to updated my son's date of birth, and they suspended my account!
I wish I knew how you got them to do this. The agent I spoke to said it was impossible and had no interest in helping any further.
- @4qxcusp4b7rm did you call the UK phone number I posted previously? Or did you atempt to use the online chat? I recommend the former if you want the issue resolved.
- @freshies123 Unfortunately I didn’t see your posting of the phone number until I’d finally got down to number 10 in the queue on the online chat. But I have it noted ready to follow up tomorrow. Thanks.
- @arp1267890 Just spoken to EA at length for this. Technical have told me that it's now a 16+ and that's the way it goes. Maybe we'll review what you've said but probably not. Literally lying to my face. Spineless waste of space company EA.
- @bengelliott Well that doesn’t seem right. The message we all get is “…disabled on your account for PlayStation Network due to age restrictions.” As a parent I am using my parental controls within the “PlayStation Network” to let my son play unrestricted. That’s what the parental controls are for are they not??????
My son doesn’t abuse this access by playing other games that are not suitable.
Just bored of it all now. We’ve given them the benefit of the doubt in our house for long enough to find a fix/response. So many conflicting messages. Just fix the problem or give my son his hard earned money back in his account not with Sony & EA. I've been having the same issue with my son, age 13. Spent an hour with EA support earlier and they said whatever the play station parental controls are set at is how the game works. I confirmed that for online playing in the UK it's 13+, which they agreed, and they said he should be able to get online, especially as he could for FC24. They blamed the PS4 settings, I confirmed his date of birth was correct on PS and their solution was to delete his acoiunt and reinstall it on the PS. I also managed to speak to someone at PS who then told me the game was set to 14+ and couldn't refund me the game as it'd been downloaded!! I've escalated my complaint so hoping to get a refund, but not holding my breath. Does anyone know if you get the same problem if you use the disc rather than downloading from the online shop? Thanks
I have the game on disc and still have the same issue. The account is the correct date of birth (age 14) and I am still not able to access the ea online services.
Does anyone know if the issue also occurs on ps5

I did try my son's (14) PS4 disc in my PS5 console and the same thing happens with the error. Disabled all parental restrictions on his account to try and get it to work. It's rubbish that those of us who use parental controls and are honest about ages are getting penalised for trying to do the right thing.
Presumably if I use the upgrade code for FC25 PS5 version that's included in the PS4 box while he is logged in on my PS5, it will bind itself to his account and he will be able to use the PS5 copy? He will be getting his own PS5 in the near future (just not yet) so I just want to be sure that if it's redeemed on my console (but his account), it will be able to go with him to his new console when we get it and not be locked in some way to mine?
@EA_Vendcera @EA_cuervo Still waiting to hear any confirmation on these threads that this is actually being looked at by EA and Sony. It doesn’t sound like any more than classification issue between you both. Can someone confirm officially the age to play EAFC25 online in the UK? If this is over 16 can it be confirmed that this age limit applies to all versions, PS5, PS4 PC etc. and if so why it only seems to be PS4 users encountering this issue?

Afaik age limits re video games are simply guidelines, there is no legal basis to them.
Given what we know:
- Restricted accounts with an age below 15 do not allow EAFC25 online access on a PS4
- Restricted accounts with an age below 15 can apply an exception and allow EAFC25 online access on a PS5
- Restricted accounts with an age below 15 allowed access to EAFC24 online
It seems fairly conclusive that this is a bug within EAFC25.
The question is are they going to resolve it?
Since it's specific to users with restrictions and on a console that is on the way out. In my experience, there aren't that many users with restrictions applied as it can be a pretty convoluted process, so when you are EA with millions of users and are busy with other upgrades and activities that will generate more EAFC points purchases, you'd assume it's pretty low on their list of issues to resolve.
Maybe as well to bite the bullet and create a new child profile with a birth date making your child 15 - you can still apply restrictions and at least it's a work around. I did manage to get support to amend my son's DOB, but I see other users have been unable to get success that way.
Good luck
