Remember to follow the steps listed in order. Also, when you start the new season, sim through the first preseason matches. sometimes it doesnt owrk on the first try so u have to try again unfortuantely. This issue seems to have appeared ac ouple of months ago. Im shocked at EA has yet to even address the issue, let alone fix it. All of us offline players are taking a massive L and its not fair. we paid of the game.

I have a few more insights which i think are helpful
If you also have a national team manager contract and if between last match of the season for the club you have matches with the national team, you need to consider the club's last match of the season - i hope it makes sense.
So, to make it work, after you play last match of the season for the club, don't Advance, just go to squad sheets, remove the created players from starting 11 and subs, keep them in the Reserves and save the sheets. Then go to squad hub and renegotiate the contracts of created players. After this, don't make any changes to squad sheets or anything just proceed normally till next season.
This seems to work for me perfectly - i have reached season 6.
However, i don't know if it works for multiple created players, i just have 1.
Remember to keep backup saves so you can go back and repeat in case something goes wrong
I have 1 save before the club's last match of the season, 1 save just after that and 1 save i use to proceed my career on until next season.
I hope EA fixes this issue soon.

EA have to fix it, it's a big company, we pay the same amount of money gor this fifa and Baldur's Gate, one is the goty the other one full of bug you can't even play with created player, a thing I can do since fifa 13.. This is really the death of a great game.
It’s really embarrassing that they still haven’t figured this problem out, such a big brand keeps releasing * games..

I can tell you it works when you have 1 created player; i don't know if it works in case you have more than 1 created player.
In my case, with 1 created player, i have to retry multiple times to make it work - i keep 2 saves. With one i proceed to next season - if it fails, i exit and load the previous save and so on until it works. I have to do this about 5 times (sometimes works first try, sometimes works second time but it can also take 5 or more times) it is random
But it works - i am in season 2031-2032
since my save has about 11 custom players, do you think If i try more it would work, also how many times would you say it took you until it worked?
Some guys in yt comments wrote that if you change the kit style of your created players (long sleeve/short sleeve) a couple of days before season ends it prevents the players from getting...well cracked up. Didnt try it yet but a lot of people answered that it worked.
Edit: It worked. Change the kit style of your created players (long sleeve/short sleeve) 2-3 days before the season ends. Doesnt matter if its a created player in your team or in another one.
Kinda sad the community needs to come up with a solution for 6 months while the developers ignoring them straight. But I guess gambling in FUT sells better huh?
Did you just changed the kit styles and go to next season or save after that? I tried to change all kits of my 23 created players and they some of them still didnt survive the end of season unfortunelly.

also, do you think if we play as a player and immediately retire, would our custom players save so they wont be deleted when the season ends?
@ChagassM22 2 days before season ended I saved (in case it shouldnt work) and after the save I changed the kit styles.
I only have 7 created players and they all survived, though a user on a similar thread wrote me he has 70 and only 23 survived.
I dont know if its a percentage chance or if it has to do something with the amount of created players.

@UrielTritton Yesterday, I spent about 6 hours straight trying to see if I noticed any exclusion patterns, and I can say that changing the kit styles helps save them. Unfortunately, there's still a possibility of them being deleted, but sometimes I managed to keep 22 out of 23, for example. Without changing the kit styles, I would lose 8/9 per season
