Don't think the fixing is ever going to happen. That would mean a major code rewrite.

Yeah. EA seriously stuffed it up.
I haven't quite finished installing my games - in fact I haven't done anything besides the base game - seeing as I need more bandwith to update my game before I can install WA.
I'll try and save more but do you think I should see if it works without my saves and then perhaps move my saves into the Sims 3 folder? Because maybe it's may saves that keep on buggering up my game.
I'm also thinking about getting the Sims 3 Seasons Limited Edition so maybe I'll get it and then start playing with my saves again.
- SpoilerThe problem is error code 12 once it happens it can lock the file. I have yet to understand this but it will not let you save at one time you could save the file to anotlher name using 'save as' it seems the memory overload keeps coming up with new conditions and has in some occoations made the file unsaveable. You can revert back to the backup file locateated ti the same folder. I have had occasion this would not work even though it is recommended. The way I underrstand it now is it is a memory overflow the problem unless they fix the memory overflow It will present several situations and simply reloading the old game will not correct the problem. which is what EA wants you to da since working with Adobe. I understand memory leaks of all sorts and they can be crazy on your system. Since EA does not attend to this matter because they are not as open to critizim as Adobe nor do they operate in the business world and depend on that reputation they have no rep to protect as does Adobe. They will never address the real cause and the only way to make them is flood Micosoft witlh complaints about EA and that it is not compatable with Windows 7 they have a loose partnership with Micosoft, but it affects the relations in the Xbox WII and PS communities the techs are not going to fix this. The best you can do is always keep a second set of saves in another location but be aware the file causing the memory over flow will continue to get memory over flow. The best solution is to make copies of the Sims you play export them and put them back in a new game once thet game crashes deleting the file causing the overflow. Sorry if I am ranting this error code 12 has made me mad for along time and EA's solutions are less than acceptable.Remember EA is only about making money and they are helpful only as long as they want to continue making money the CEO has said so publicly and he does not care about the games only making money. Not support. Error code 12 started with wold adventlures and continues down that road they will not go back and fix it although Pets has added with the latest patch a new approach to the problem. Your suggestion is as good as any it soulds good to me.
That's almost exactly what happened!
You see I hadn't been playing for 6 months as my dad's computer had been struck by lightning in January and to cut a long story short we only got it fixed in June. So knowing that it'd be working soon I ordered Late Night and Generations. AND THEN IT DIDN'T WORK!!
It was like those games just triggered it. Before I'd been completely fine and I had been going to China, France and Egypt quite a lot. So...
And even when I didn't go to any of the places I still got the ErrorCode 12. Suprisingly what happened was that I sent one of my girls to France, she had a superb holiday, she came back and it saved!!! Explain that please?
So Error Code 12 is something EA refuses to fix? What a load of, for lack of a cleaner word, manure! 😕mileymad: And if my predictions are correct, you said that it don't work on Windows 7? Great, now it seems that getting an Alienware PC may not do the trick either... 😕mileysad: Please let me know if I am wrong...
I am not sure it is just a matter of they refuse to fix it. They believe the matter was fixed and settled about the time Highend Loft came out. One of the programmers said he had it fixed. He got full credit that the problem was fixed. His fix was suppost to fix error code 12 and 16. It did fix 16 but code 12 continues the problem is if you speak to a tech he believes the matter is fixed and EA will no longer accept responsibility for the error as it is offically fixed. What I hate is the marketing stragity of you must buy the next game. They have gone back to predatory marketing. If you do not purchase the next game in the cycle, your updates will not work. This happened when they update WA. I did not want to purchase WA and they forced you to by placing updates for WA in the next patch to fix Sims 3. This cycle is happening again with seasons. They took a major hit from the FTC for having these pactices in place. They attempted to correct the matter and then error code 12 and 16 began showing up. Error code 12 and 16 where said to be fixed but now they have gone back to the predatory practices in marketing. I just made a new complant to the FTC about this new practice of them forcing consumers to update to Season because the patches will not be backward compatable. Again. Until they fire the current CEO and Board this will never change and I do not see that happening since a company is based on profits. Until we can release our addiction to Sims. Which is also doubtful since there is no other game on the market that does what Sims does no one that is competing in the simulation field on the life cycle market. The market would disappear if some one would compete with EA. EA is not a good company nor will they ever be since they are fully profit driven.
