Re: Sims 3: "Your base game is incompatible with current expansion pack" MAC

@Baldursbra wrote:

Recently I lost my original Sims 3 so I bought The Sims 3 Starter pack with Late night and High tech stuff to replace it.

I then installed the Starter Pack on my Macbook Pro (which I had just updated) and then all my expansion packs, which are:

Ambitions,

Generations,

Seasons,

Supernatural

and Island Paradise. (I also have Sims 3 Pets, but i can't find it)

After installing and I tried to start the game the message "Your The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher." But in the game launcher it says "Your game is up to date".

I've tried to find the solution to this problem my self, but they are all for Microsoft, and not for Macbook.

My game version is: 1.54.95.022001

Please help me!

Hi

The message you are seeing is fairly common and harmless. It just means that the base game is more up to date than the expansion pack's patch level. Normally you can just ignore the message and go ahead and install the pack. It is odd, however, to get that message after installing everything.

There are two problems here:

1. You may not have cleanly uninstalled your original game before starting to install your new Starter pack. Old files from old installations can conflict with new installations. See the directions below on uninstalling cleanly.

2. Your game is not up to date. The most recent patch was 1.67 and you are only at 1.54. If your Launcher won't let you access the update properly (again, this is quite common so don't worry), you can use the manual patch - see below.

Good luck,

Caspin

Uninstalling cleanly

When you uninstall TS3 games on your Mac using the uninstaller, the game leaves behind stray files and isn't completely removed from your computer. These files may conflict with future installations. It is best to completely remove them. BluebellFlora's website provides a guide on how to do this:

http://bluebellflora.com/the-sims-3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac/

After cleanly uninstalling, install the base game and patch it up to date. If you cannot update via the Launcher, download and apply the latest cumulative manual patch (called the superpatch) for Mac.

Check that your game works properly. Then install any EPs and SPs that you own, in order of release date.

Patching manually

Many simmers find that patching their game via the "Game Updates" tab of the Launcher does not work properly. It is then better to download and apply the manual superpatch. It is important to download the Mac version rather than the PC version, and to pick the right one for your region.

Instructions and the links to the downloads can be found in the Mac section of the forums at thesims3.com here:

If you use any mods or custom content, be sure to remove them before patching.
