The only thing I can try is either lowering the brightness in-game (not sure if that's possible) or on your monitor in general. You can also just try darkening the white colour slightly, it tends to help. Something that also tends to really help me (I also get the white as very bright) is changing the texture that you use. It really seems to make a difference.
