Re: Sims 3 Installation offline

was having the same problem too. but figured it out!

1. install origin and set up/login to account.

2. cancel the sims 3 download in origin.

3. restart computer and open origin to make sure the sims 3 is NOT downloading.

4. with origin opened, go to my computer, right click DVD drive, and open.

5. choose autorun.

follow the steps of installation as before but, this time it will ask for language, like it should do, and SHOULD say copying instead of downloading.

then the install screen for the sims 3 should pop up and your ready to go!

hope this helps you like it helped me.

That didn't work for us here either. Every single time we try to install from disc, it forces us into Origin and waits for us to click the game download link. Then, of course, Origin's downloader sits on the files (which are on the local disc) and gives us the "...is waiting for permission to download ..." *. Well, if it's waiting for permission, why isn't it asking windows to give me a "click yes" pop up message? And seriously, why can't we install from the disc and THEN log on to Origin to verify the game and do some updates? Either way some genius is going to crack the code and put pirate copies out there. The only people you are making it hard for are those of us that support you by ACTUALLY paying for the game. FRUSTRATION MOUNTING.... going back to Sims 2 on the PS2, because it doesn't make me download files I already have a physical copy of to play the game. If anybody figures out how to get this abominable "security feature" bypassed for us, please post!

ohmygoshh thank you!! I have been literally trying for days to download The Sims 3 via the Origin client but the downloads keep dropping down from 40% (which is the farthest I've gotten due to my super slow Internet connection)back down to 10% then I read this post(I have the physical copy of the game btw) and this worked for me! Thank you! :D

    What I did was:

    1. Canceled the download.

    2. Closed and restarted Origin again.
    3. Popped in the game disc and clicked the autorun option.

    4. The game began installing from the disc NOT through Origin which took about less than thirty minutes.

I did that and it didn't work it keeps saying install thru origin. Then it tells me to put in a code. When I put the code in it says error.!!
