AI Appears to Hardly be Affected by Tyre Wear

Product: F1 23
Platform:PlayStation 5
Please specify your platform model. Sony PlayStation 5
Summarize your bug Did a career mode race at Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. Playing 50% length, AI is 80 difficulty. Refer to screenshot, some AI are able to do a one stop race going soft to medium no problem where as I did medium to hard one stop (suggested strategy) and was definitely affected by tyre wear (even boxed earlier than anticipated because tires were degrading so fast).
What is your 16 digit Report Code? N/A
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? Xfinity
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play career mode 50% race and note what tyre strategies the AI use compared to yourself and note how well they perform.
What happens when the bug occurs? The AI has the advantage of racing on softer tyre compounds with same amount of stops and no detrimental effects on performance.
What do you expect to see? I do think it’s reasonable that some AI are better able to preserve tires due to both AI skill and AI car performance. I think it’s unrealistic though that they’re able to do a one stop on softer tyres than the player and not be negatively affected.

  • Early in your career.  Especially driving for a lower ranked team the Ai will be easier on their tyres.  They are just smoother than us.  But also Ai teams that have done a soft/medium strategy probably have a tyre wear upgrade.  That you haven’t.  Also more weight reduction and downforce upgrades.  These we all help reduce tyre wear.  I have upgraded 3 off the 5 tyre wear upgrades and do a soft/medium strategy for most 50% races

  • I also play MT and DC with 50% races.

I noticed if I run Race Strategy Programme during FP and am not very aggressive on tyres, game gives me 0.65-0.8x of expected wear.

So I am also offered Soft/Medium tyres strategy for race

NB it pisses off my nephew (in two player career) who races hard and he mostly gets the harder compounds offered for race, sometimes even 2 stops 😉

But without completing Race Strategy Programme, game gives me only generic options before race, with option to extend stint during race, sometimes.

And tyre wear upgrades also play their role, however, driving style has impact, too.

  • Thanks for the replies. Sounds more like race strategy program and vehicle upgrades affects tyre wear and race strategies more than I’m used to this year
