In F1 Sim Racing, which is still running, I see that race director mode was used in Austria until a driver returned to the server. In connection with this, I would suggest that, if possible, this option should also be implemented in the base game as a lobby setting option. This could greatly improve league races.
I think it was fine for an official LAN event with £750k for the line, but i fear it would be incredibly disruptive to throw out a VSC every time someone disconnected or left the session. Disconnects are far more likely in online multiplayer sessions and when someone does, they tend to drop in and out the lobby.
If the intention is just to protect someones race whilst they try to reconnect, then simply match the AI with the average pace of the lobby so they don't drop back too far.
