The ruined house also works. I did a very quick ruined temple and set it to Haunted House Residential. I added a creepy basement but my visiting Sim couldn't go downstairs even though it's open but never mind. I moved the creepy stuff to the ground floor instead. My visiting Sim could still take part in a haunting (shivers).

Totally creeped out now and switching all the lights on!
