Re: MADDEN 24 Companion App

My guess is the companion app doesn't bring in money so they're focusing on bugs issues tuning etc etc instead. Personally I'd rather they split the exporting of CFM data into its own app and allow us to pick current and previous versions of Madden. This way we can tidy up our current league post release of new Madden and still allows everyone to start a new league with new Madden. No waiting for MUT changes or whatever the hold up is. I can assure you the exporting of data is not changing. It hasn't in years. So they aren't trying to figure out how to structure the data lol

@Zero2Cool80 Ideally they would just open the API for franchises so we can easily get any data we want with the CFM ID. I’ve heard they know we want this, but for some reason don’t want to do it. Would like to know why, but they don’t like to answer us…
  • @Drakyoid I've asked for API, but I also know it's not as simple as exposing the API. There's authentication and authorization that has to take place. The use of the Companion App does this for us. So, I don't think it is "they don't want to", I think they have bigger fish to fry. We have to keep in mind they are pushing out a game every year. That means they have to support the previous version while developing the new one. Which leads me to repeating myself saying they should change release strategy. Madden 24 full game. Madden 25, bugs/roster update for $30 or something. This way developers can do their jobs more efficiently and effectively. And we fans get a better product.
  • @Drakyoid how would you be able to find your league(s) then? Madden 24 has been out for a week or two and I think they've got over 2 million leagues created already. Do you wanna sift through all that to find your league? Granted, each league has to have a unique name so maybe they could find away? In my opinion, the best way to do the API route is to have people explicitly expose their league via API with a token that authorizes access. It could be in the Franchise League Settings. "Available via API? Yes/No"

Of course this API would be GET only, we don't need to POST anything. If they were to allow us to change depth chart or stuff like that -- my gosh -- that would be a NIGHTHMARE to try and emulate in API, unless they have a layered software architecture implemented already. (they don't)

MAKE OR BREAK YEAR!! If only there was a... beta... LMAO
  • @galersg the BETA is more of a publicity stunt to hype up the game than anything else in my opinion. There are some of us who are actually software developers by profession who enjoy football that could help immensely with submitting bugs and process to reproduce them or they can be resolved. Instead, they give out BETA codes for kids in their parents basement.
