@FlanzoneThat's a mess what you did on Noveria. My guess is that you picked wrong door and instead of going in the room where Benesia is you went all the way to the security area via second route. Even more, instead of getting back to Benesia you went for neural purge which pretty much messed all the game. Without spoilers, finding Benesia is mandatory. If you have a save of early stage in Noveria, use it.
As a piece of advice, save a lot and pay attention to what the NPC are saying because that is the best of the hands holding you can get.
ME1 doesn't forgive major mistakes. Sheppard suppose to save the galaxy so it's only normal to act like a saviour. Also most of decisions here will reflect in following games.

  • A year late, but I’m dealing with the same exact problem as you. Did you ever find a solution or did you have to start the game over? I’ve been stuck for weeks.

    So you activated the neural purge without meeting Benesia?
    You should have a save at the start of the mission regardless of the system you're on.
