That seems to have done it! I got into dragon age. Now I'm downloading the rest of my games to check! synced the clock and ran game as admin.

I ask because running a 4090 on a 1080p monitor is pretty wasteful.

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

The game is also not running in a new user account?

Please clear your temp files:

• Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
• Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
• Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
  (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

Then:

• Go here and download "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
• Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall EA app.
• At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Intensive" > Browse.
• If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
• When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All (Make sure the "Origin Games" folder is not in the list) > Delete.
• Restart the PC > Reinstall the newest version of EA app from here.
• Repair MELE in EA app > Test.

Well now it stopped giving the already running message, but it still doesn't run. Also, the new user account made no difference.

Correction, it popped up the "already running" message up later when I reopened the EA app

Does the game appear in the Processes tab of Task Manager when you receive the message?

I did create a new account and the game does not appear in the processes tab. I have noticed that this is not the only title doing this.

1. Hit Windows key and X.
2. Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)", whichever option is offered.
3. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
4. If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
5. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
6. The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
7. After it reaches 100% reaped steps 1 & 2
8. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes > ENTER.
10. Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

Please preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.

In clean boot:
- Make sure the "EABackgroundService" remains enabled under point 3 in the guide.
- Make sure your virus scanner and any other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.
- Make sure any CORSAIR/Asus/Razor software you might have is disable or deinstalled and that your GPU & CPU are not overclocked.
- Make sure only your Mouse and keyboard are connected to the PC. (Disconnect any other periphery device.)

If the game is not running in clean boot:

• Follow this manual to the letter to cleanly uninstall all NVIDIA components.
  (Get the newest graphic drivers for NVIDIA and Intel from the ASUS support page of your Laptop.)
• After purging all NVIDIA components deinstall the Intel driver the same way.
• Install the graphics driver > Go online.
• Test.

Completed all steps. Game still does not run.

At some point when I can afford it I definitely will.

👍 On a 4090, you are CPU bottlenecked at 1080P no matter what you play, so that would be a good investment.
I run my 4090 on a 21:9 super widescreen monitor at 3440X1440.

I like to try something:

• Klick on Start > Choose "on/off" Press the Shift Key > Click on "Restart" Windows now boots into the recovery Screen.
• Choose "Troubleshot" > Advanced Options > Startup Settings Click "Restart"
• After the PC restart you will see a list of options > Press "F5" for "Safe Mode with Networking" Try to start the game.
  No drivers expect network drivers are loaded in this mode, meaning the game is rendered in software, so it will take a wile to get to the launcher and so on.
  
  You of course can't play this way, the idea is to find out if a normally loaded driver is causing the error. To leave the Save environment, just restart the system.

So I followed the instructions, and when I opened the app, it said something about the background crashed or didn't load and would run the updater manually. it did and updated the app. after the update, the app still would not start up, just kept trying to manually run the updater which was up to date. I restarted and opened the app. Game still wouldn't launch. I cleared cache, the temp file, and repaired the game. Still says it is already running.

You have a STACKHASH error for both EA desktop and Razor THX product, which means likely EA desktop app and your Razor app don't play well together.  I would suggest you disable/uninstall your razor app and then check to see if EA works.  I know that Razor app for their products have been a pain for Mass Effect, Dragon Age Inquisition and a few other games as well for a long time....it seemed to get fixed because I rarely saw this for the last year+ it seems, but for awhile there it was an everyday issue to get people to disable the Razor app to get their games to work. 

Stackhash errors, I have been told, come when the system tries to use the same area of memory for two different programs, causing them to crash, since memory can only do one thing at a time in a sector.....

You made sure that non of the Razor software was running in clean boot as I asked for?

If so I would also advise to deinstall all Razor software for testing purpose, especially the Razer Game Booster, Razor Cortex and/or Razer THX Spatial Audio software.

Then restart the system and test.

The crash of EA app and the RZTHXService.exe are 0xc0000374 error, that is a heap corruption. The heap is part of your system RAM, more precise a specific part allocated for use in a specific locations inside the RAM. Such a corruption means in very simplified terms that a programme mishandles the heap allocation assigned to it and the operating system terminates it due to this mishandle.

This is more often than not a clear software bug, only that we know that this is not the case here because this applications work for countless of other people. So there is something else on your system causing this problem and the Razor software is a suspect here.

I disabled everything when I did a clean boot, but I tried uninstalling the razer software anyway. It did not fix the issue.

You also clean installed EA app and the game with Revo?

The account itself is fine. No issues there. I would reboot the PC, load the task manager and disable all nonessential apps that start up with Windows.

End the EA backgroundservices if running and try to launch again. Windows is starting something when you log into the PC that thinks its running.

So I have a slow internet connection and Mass effect is a huge game, so I tried that with a smaller game that is having the same issue. It still doesn't play either. If you still want me to, I will Revo uninstall both Mass Effect and the EA app and reinstall. it will take at least a couple days to redownload.

You uninstalled EA app with Revo as well?

You restarted your machine after the uninstall process? (A real restart, not just shut down and start again.)
