Mass Effect Legendary edition already running?

The account itself is fine. No issues there. I would reboot the PC, load the task manager and disable all nonessential apps that start up with Windows.

End the EA backgroundservices if running and try to launch again. Windows is starting something when you log into the PC that thinks its running.

So I have a slow internet connection and Mass effect is a huge game, so I tried that with a smaller game that is having the same issue. It still doesn't play either. If you still want me to, I will Revo uninstall both Mass Effect and the EA app and reinstall. it will take at least a couple days to redownload.

You uninstalled EA app with Revo as well?

You restarted your machine after the uninstall process? (A real restart, not just shut down and start again.)

That game is titled Peggle.

It is the smallest of my installed games having the same issue.

I uninstalled both Peggle and the EA app with Revo, did a restart, then reinstalled the app and game. I still got the message that it is already running.

As you preformed the clean boot, did you deactivated your virus scanner and every other security software you might have?
Try to repeat the steps in this post please.

If nothing of the above works, we are running out of options to troubleshoot this over the internet.

Last thing I can suggest is a Windows repair installation, also called a in-place upgrade, that will allow you to keep your data and your applications.

This is normally a very safe process, but you should make a full backup of all your important data anyway. (And not just before such on operation.) 😉

Make sure that "Keep Personal files and Apps" is marked before you click "install".

Let me just take this opportunity to say thank you for trying so hard to help me with the EA app. I don't understand how my relatively new laptop that is having no issues, is having such a time with this one app, but your tireless efforts are deeply appreciated. I'm going to take a step back from this issue for awhile, before it frustrates me too greatly.  Maybe later I'll try all this again and see something I missed. Thank you again and God bless.

@jedijailer It's a frustrating issue for sure. Can I ask where you got the laptop as you said it is new. The issue I have always seen with "new" hardware is depending on where it comes from, there could be restrictions when Windows is installed.

For example, if you get one from work, school, etc, they may limit what you can download, install, or edit because you cannot approve the security protocols or you don't have admin rights to do so.

When a program is already running, that means Windows is not shutting down or opening it more than once and you cannot edit that to make those changes.

I bought it a year ago from someone on ebay. It was upgraded and given a fresh install. So not brand new, but in new condition. I did the initial setup and am the sole administrator.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I just happened to open my EA app to check my library for a game I thought I had, when I figured while I was in there, give my games a try. All games seem to be working normally. I have no answer as to the "self fix" as I haven't changed anything on my computer since we last spoke. Thanks again for all the help.
