Re: Is DLC contents really necessary to have included in the main game?

Am I really the only one finding this procedure intrusive?

I honestly feel as though I've just went to some really cool summer vacation, only to realize the city is inhabited with an insane amount of salesmen trying to sell me stuff they insist will make my vacation better and more enjoyable, but I know it is unneeded to enjoy my vacation. I didn't take the trip because of the many ways of spending money, I did it to enjoy myself and have a good time. I might have taken the trip, but I am not going to buy anything from those salesmen and I am most definitely not taking spending my vacation there ever again.

I am being invaded in my game, and the only way to end it is by restoring my 1 month old PS3 backup and deactivate auto-update. I enjoy your game, but I will not accept your poor attempts at pushing extra content down my throat.

The update was almost 2 gigs and the addons are only 100kb, so it is obvious all the DLC was in that update. Why not make a DLC that installs the DLC when it is purchased and not beforehand, as if its already in the big scheme of things?

It's quite obvious to me. How are you gonna see the players driving the DLC cars, if the content is not on your machine? This isn't an add-on or expansion, which requires all users to purchase it to access (like Battlefield 2142).

Sure, I get that. But why are there cars I can't jack, races I can't race and statistics I can't improve, but yet I am reminded of those facts many, many times during gameplay? I do not play multiplayer so I don't really care for other players cars. The game should recognize that I don't have those packs and not show those items ingame(single-player). If/when I would join a multiplayer game then I would not mind it. I don't mind the races and cars are on my machine, I do mind being constantly reminded about unusable features.

Listen, I love DLC's and addons for games. I think it's great that I can enjoy a game a little while longer for a small fee. These packs will add up to almost what I initially paid for the game in the first place. That I am also fine with, because you can choose to buy only one at a time.

My problem is the fact that these packs now represent 1/10th of the full game and yet I cannot choose whether I want this content to be a part of my game or not. It just is.

If I could remove the update and stay offline, I would. But even this I cannot do.
