Re: Mass Effect 3 Asking For Code After Install

You need to run game once through Steam + Origin app. After that game will work on Steam + EA app.
Origin is no longer officially supported, so you can look the instruction via Steam forums/guides or N7 Squad Discord.

    • Make sure EA app and Steam are closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
    • Move the "License" folder to your desktop.
    • Test.
  • This did not help as I am encountering the same issue. I added a screenshot of the error from the EA app and it does show that I am signed into the correct account. I own all of the Mass Effect games on Steam and all of them except for Mass Effect 3 will launch. So the issue is defiantly with Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect 3 alone. Some help please because unlike OP I have over 200 hours logged in ME3 and I am ineligible for a refund.

So, I got it to launch from Steam finally and this is how I got it to work as a Windows 10 User.

    1. Uninstall Mass Effect 3 from Steam, (I did not use a uninstaller program like REVO Uninstaller). Just find Mass Effect 3 in your library, right click and select Manage>Uninstall.

    2. Open the EA App and Install Mass Effect 3 and all DLC from there.

    3. Launch Mass Effect 3 from EA App and get to the main menu. Ignore a missing DLC Error. Exit the Game from the Main Menu option.

    4. Return to Steam and Install Mass Effect 3 from Steam to the same drive as the version from the EA App. DO NOT Uninstall the version from the EA App. (Yes, I know the game is now installed twice, we will deal with this later.)

    5. Launch Mass Effect 3 via Steam and get to the main menu. Exit the Game from the Main Menu option.

    6. Right click on Start, choose Apps and Features.

    7. Uninstall Mass Effect 3.         DO NOT UNINSTALL "Mass Effect 3 N7 Digital Deluxe Edition (2012) as this is the Steam Version!!!

    8. Return to Steam and Launch Mass Effect 3. The EA App will give an Error. Just click Ok. Mass Effect 3 will not open.

    9. Right-Click on Mass Effect 3 in Steam and choose Properties<Installed Files<Verify integrity of game files. Steam will now update Mass Effect 3 for 21.9 GB.

    10. Mass Effect 3 now launches correctly for me from Steam, all DLC work and the game connects to the EA Servers at the Main Menu showing the Galaxy Readiness percentage showing that multiplayer will work.

I'm guessing that by not using a uninstaller program the Activation Key that the game wants to satisfy the old Origin Coding is still where ever it needs to be on the hard drive from the EA App Install.

    Edit:

EA_Shepard, I tagged you in this because I discovered another thread with like 18 pages about this same issue and you seemed the be the one helping out over there. Was hoping it could help out someone.

Hey. I also got the same problem. I bought one year ea play for this game but it doesn’t even work. It also gives me the could not active code. I moved the license on desktop and doesn’t work.

Thanks, worked perfectly for me and I only play ME3 through the EA app not through steam.
