[PC] Unable to Launch Mass Effect 1

What is exactly happening?

Any error messages?

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

EA Desktop returns "Failed to launch game. An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again later."

It does this literally every time I try to launch me1, so I can't run me1 at all.

Note that me2 and me3 both work. it's just me1 that fails.

I am attaching a dxdiag from today for you.

just tried and i got the exact same error.
i tried it running with administrator mode, both the game and EA launcher and still the same issue
also tried compatibility mode with windows xp, vista  and still doesnt work

In EA app > Click on the 3 lines in the top left corner > Help > App recovery > Clear cache.

Restart your PC > Test.

No good, even after clearing cache and restarting, I'm still getting "Failed to launch game."

What the hey? Will I ever be able to play this game again?

I just don't know what to do now...

On a different note, what about the dxdiag told you I should clear the cache? Should be good to know.

And now me3 refuses to start!

It demands my product key, then says "an error occurred" when I try to enter the code!

This seriously bites. If I didn't like the mass effect series so much /i would just stop altogether.

• Make sure EA app and Steam are closed.
• Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
• Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
• Move the "License" folder to your desktop.
• Test both games.

Weird morning. Had to end task on EA Desktop in order to get it closed so I can move the License folder - and then EA Desktop wouldn't restart.

Restart the computer, EA Desktop starts, but claims no games are installed. And it will not download them either.

Restart the computer <again>, and now the games <are> installed. Sigh.

Tried to launch me1, get "failed to launch game" error. No surprise there.

Tried to launch me3, and the game launches correctly.

Well, at least moving the License folder got me3 working. It really irks me that me1 refuses to launch, though.

• Go here and download "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
• Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall EA Desktop.
• At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Moderate" > Browse.
• If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
• When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All (Make sure the "Origin Games" or "EA Games" folder is not in the list) > Delete.
• Go here and download the newest EA app version and install it.
• Restart the PC > Test.

I've done everything you mentioned, even ran Revo a second time to be sure before restarting, but me1 is still giving a "failed to launch game" error.

I guess this means I will never be able to play me1 (at least on THIS computer) again. Wah.
