Re: ABXY buttons become directional, controller mapping issues
UPDATE:
I had my gf log me into my Steam account on her PC and installed the game + EA app on her PC. It worked without any issues - this led me to believe that something became corrupted in Windows settings/interplay between EA and Windows.
I have just backed up my Documents/Settings/Files and have completely reset Windows to a new OS image.
This worked. My controller is identified as an Xbox controller, ABXY are treated normally as ABXY and not directional input, and things seem to have normalized.
This begs the following questions:
- What is the trigger for this issue? Is it truly starting the game with a controller unplugged and plugging it in afterwards? Hard to believe.
- What sorts of registry components does NFS Unbound talk to with respect to Windows? Are any controller-related binaries edited with NFS Unbound? This should be investigated.
- A clean-wipe of the OS is not an acceptable workaround for any application, much less one people paid $70+ for.
