The game is unplayable to the sense that you cannot rebind anything on the ps5 controller when on this game. Connecting though steam and setting up a config doesnt resolve the issue further. Loading into the game X on the ps5 or A on xbox for the main action button is R2 on the ps5 controller.camera is always facing down and looking backwards when booting into the game. Unplayable state on launch when heat worked like butter.

I had the same problem but with a PS4 controller. After many hours i found a way that worked for me. Plug in your controller and go to steam controller settings > check the boxes next to guide button focuses steam, ps4 configuration support and xbox configuration support > add NFS Unbound as non-steam game, add NFS Unbound Trial as a non-steam game and also add EA Desktop app to steam > launch ea app from steam > after ea app starts running launch NFS unbound and leave the ea app and steam running in the background. Very unusual and unnecessary but i hope this helps.PS: always plug in your controller before you launch any other program and also the ea app must be fully closed before you start playing again after you close the game.

Fixed for me.After so many hours today testing with various people on the reddit forum, a user namedBR3NDANP has done a test THAT HAS WORKED WITH PS5 CONTROLLERS:- Connect the PS5 controller via USB, open Steam > Steam tab > Parameters > Controller > General controller settings > Activate ''PlayStation controller settings'' > click on PS5 controller at the bottom > Preferences > Send.- You click add a non-steam game to Steam, click "browse", go to the directory where EA Desktop is installed (if its the same as mine it'll be something like C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop) and add EADesktop.exe. Then you should be able to launch the EA Desktop app from Steam, and then the game from there.EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECTLY, ALL THE BUTTONS ARE PLACED, I have tried this with a PS4 controller but this solution does not work.I hope it works for you and you can play this game in its early version.

Need for Speed: Unbound PC - PS5 DualSense controller not working
Despite apparently fully supporting and recommending a controller for game play. The game will not work with a DualSense5 controller. Have used 2 different emulators, tried adding to Steam and using Big Picture.
Bluetooth or cable. Buttons are completely screwed and not playable at all.
You cant even change the button mappings in game...
Has anyone got this working?

I'm having the same issue but with a PS4 controller instead I bought the game through the EA app and thought I was alone when I launched it and found out it wouldn't recognize my controller at all with or without DS4. I contacted support and after a few failed attempts at helping they suggested I make a post here. I just asked for a refund since I thought the steam version would at least let me use a controller.

Testing myself with an Xbox controller, I am unable to replicate any issues. @maloo1312, can you restart your system with a Clean Boot, making sure to disable or disconnect anything that your system might interpret as a game controller.

I am using the PS5 controller connected with USB-C cable only and it is still the same issue as with only the bluetooth connection.

@Dynahunt Yes, unfortunately this affects PS5 controllers whether connected or wireless, the Xbox wired workaround isn't an option, sorry.

I got the same error with my USB connected PS4 controller.
R2 is accept, L2 is decline, naviate up is X navigate down is rectangle and so on. totally messed up and can't play.

This is weird i remember dualshock 4 and dualsense works on bf2042 but months ago support removed now we have nfs unbound racing game without support good job :-) even with emulated x360 gamepad with ds4windows

Did you guys get the controllers to work? i have a ps5 dualsense and the keybinds are also all wacked out. r2 is nos the camera is looking back at all times, they said they would have full controller support and wheel support what happened??? EA FIX THIS ISSUE NOW!
