Re: Retired Jersey Issues for Gretzky 99 in Custom Franchise and Playoff Modes

 

Retired Jerseys off option does not exist in Custom Franchise mode. In Playoff mode, the option is there but it doesnt work for Wayne Gretzky. He can never wear 99 in Playoff Mode or in Custom Franchise. It does work in Authentic Franchise and in Season Mode though. I have posted about this issue (for Playoff mode) every year in Sept/Oct when the game comes out. You added the retired jerseys option in playoff mode a year or so ago but it doesnt work for Gretzky. He's hard coded across the league as retired. But retired jerseys off for Gretzky does work in Season Mode and regular Franchise Mode for some reason but not Custom Franchise and not Playoff mode.

I have submitted a bug report for this for the 4th or 5th year in a row (for Playoff Mode).

    @EA_Aljo  can you please confirm that this issue has been raised to development? I dont see acknowledgement of it like other posts on the General board and I posted it there and it got removed and added to the bug report. Just want to know it has been sent to the right place. Thanks.

    @BeejyTonkMan It’s not on the patch notes for the next patch coming in a few days… and EA mods (as far as I know) haven’t confirmed/acknowledged it… so we will have to sit tight and wait to see if it’ll get fixed or not… my brother is a huge NHL history nut.. and it grinds his gears that he can’t recreate those older leagues in the custom mode..

    hey @heavydutyrammer, ya i saw it isn't on the patch notes but i have found that bugs sometimes get fixed in a release and they aren't mentioned in the patch notes; not often but it's almost away of not acknowledging it publicly but still correcting the problem...we have talked about this on here before but it's absolutely beyond belief that Custom Franchise was created this year and advertised with legendary teams and no one in QA happened to to try Gretzky out on the one of many teams he is on in this game and noticed he was wearing #98?

    I've covered this before but this is a problem in Playoff Mode to where retired jerseys OFF doesnt help the #99 situation. I know few ppl play Playoff Mode any more but Custom Franchise is made for making legendary teams and leagues.

    I'm not even sure why Retired Jerseys needs to be in the game in anymore. If someone wants to make a truly authentic team/league, just edit the Jerseys/Captains and change it for retired numbers. It's legacy code/feature that should just be removed.

    Hoping it gets fixed before the patches stop for NHL 23 otherwise this will just sit another year.
