I first noticed this on NHL 15 when PS4 first came out and has persisted ever since...It seems when my ping is less than 30ms (according to network performance) it is fine, but anything other than that, there is definitely noticeable input delay. Also, one of the guys on our club lives in Minnesota if that is relevant.

If you require anymore information/clarification, please don't hesitate to ask. This has been quite frustrating to play and really ruins the online experience.

Unfortunately, your lag is most likely due to your location. You're kind of in the middle of an area where you're pretty far from a server. There's one in the Pacific NW and the central server is in the midwestern US. It sounds like you're playing EASHL. When you play again, please note your ping in the network connection screen for a few games and let me know what it says.

Just to add a bit more information, I just played a Versus game online as the Arizona Coyotes with a 98 ping the whole match. The game ran so much smoother even with a higher ping. 

Versus is peer to peer so you’re not on ea servers…that’s why it ran better even at a higher ping. They need to address the aws servers that run hut and eashl

@EA_Aljo I'm sorry, but that is quite the pitiful excuse/reasoning.

So just because of where I live (In North America, not Africa or South America, mind you) I am put at a very noticeable disadvantage against other players when playing online? Again, this ONLY HAPPENS IN NHL 22. I don't experience this in any other game I play where there are also way more players connected to the game (Warzone, Black ops, Apex Legends, Fall Guys lol)

Again, NHL 14 and previous iterations of NHL on PS3 were fine, even when playing with my buddy in Minnesota. Something is going on here, I guarantee it and I guarantee there are more people having this issue than you think, they just don't know about these forums or don't bother reaching out to EA because they know nothing will change with EA.

You would think technology/networking/servers would get better over time, but appaently not with EA. How, in the year, 2021, am I not able to play with a few buddies and one in another country just to the south, without experiencing a half/full second of delay between pressing a button on my controller and my player responding??? It's mind boggling.

I will let you know the ping when I play club games next. but basically 25-30 ms = responsive, crisp gameplay    >31ms= half to full second delayed response

Running 26mps and then spiking into the 1600-1700 range randomly. Only happens in NHL. It's not me. It's EA

I'm having similar issues to others here on Xbox Series X on the X/S version of the game. I usually register 20-30 ping to the East, Northeast, and Central servers. I've played this series a long time and I know my skill level, and virtually every single online World of Chel game gives me horrible input delay. Like 100+ ping feel, no matter what the number states. I've played this series long enough to know some games just feel terrible, but that's usually for the lobby. This is specific to me and on the regular. It becomes a miserable experience when my minimum size character cannot skate properly or with any hustle, or my passes can't get off in tight windows, or my stick handles aren't registered. I can feel myself at a measurable disadvantage, with my super sluggish character. I know that something is wrong with how it plays, and frankly, it makes me not want to play when I can feel myself handicapped. 

I don't seem to have problems with other games. Even NHL21 felt very smooth for me, once I upgraded to my new Xbox Series X, from my aging Xbox One. My download speeds are 500+ Mb/s; I'm hardwired; I play on a 1 ms monitor; I wire my controller; I've changed HDMI cables. I've changed my DNS to 5 different things; clear my alternate MAC regularly; hard reboot my Xbox and router constantly; ports all open. Everything! I've played a couple Versus games on NHL22, on a similar 20 or so ping, and the game felt amazing but that was the exception. I also hosted a Versus game with a friend on the same ping, where I encountered the same input delay, so I'm baffled. But it's pervasive, at least in WoC. I'm honestly nearing my breaking point playing this game competitively.

How long are you letting the search run for? After about 15 - 20 seconds, the search expands to include others outside your region. This will make your ping higher.

I'm going to need to see some other reports like yours. Unfortunately, having just a few people reporting this without many details doesn't indicate a widespread issue that's on our end. If we can get some other PingPlotter reports, that may help. If there's any video of what you're experiencing, that would help as well.

They are showing an average of 55 with a spike of 182 on the 3rd hop. That's well before our servers. Also, I believe their location is pretty far from the closest server so an average of 55 isn't unusual.

@EA_Aljo Have you seen the FIFA forums? Almost all the topics on that forum are people complaining about input delay....you have to accept that there is an issue on EA's end...that is a fact...please escalate or inform your networking/server team...this is getting ridiculous as you keep saying there isn't a widespread issue on your end or say the issue is with the customer or their ISP. THERE IS AN ISSUE ON EA'S END, I would bet my life on it.

People on FIFA forums and NHL forums have provided all the requested info...please pass on the information to those who look after EA's networking infrastructure so they can look into the issue that is most definitely on your end. Thank you

If this were my business it seems like a pretty simple request. Ea pays Amazon Web servers to run the game, people are complaining about how the game is running, contact Amazon Web servers and ask them to run a check. I gave specific IP addresses in my ping plotter that are having problems along with others. Seems pretty cut and dry. “Hi Amazon Web servers, customers are complaining about input lag for this particular game, can you look into this? There are a couple of IP address is a customer gave that seem to be having issues. Thank you. I feel like I did a lot of the legwork for you, I understand you can’t fix it but you can contact the company that can.

You said you're playing Online Versus. Since that's not on our servers, this would either be an issue with your connection or your opponent's connection. If every Online Versus game you play has a bad connection, the issue is either with your ISP or something with your home network. Try the troubleshooting steps detailed here to see if that helps.

I'm not super familiar with PingPlotter, but does it normally not have the destination servers at the end of the test? Seeing them in the middle seems odd. Regardless, if those are our servers, you wouldn't be able to avoid them if you're trying to play NHL 22 online.

Is there a way to test my PingPlotter? I'm unfamiliar.
