I played caustic A LOT. I don't disagree with the OP's suggestions per se, I just think they are unlikely to be implemented. My thought, the simplest to implement, is just to increase the damage by the traps quite a lot, I don't have a specific number though.
Here's my thinking. When you select a class, you might say to yourself, who's the best?
No one will say caustic at the moment. Most people will say wraith, bangalore, lifeline. Maybe mirage, but the point is, there will be debate, pros and *.
Caustic just sucks (but he's fun and that's why I play him).
People might say increasing the damage of the traps will make them OP... but what does that mean in actual terms? It means people might actually play with him. It means instead of just deciding between wraith, banga, lifeline, you might decide between all the characters because they are all equal in different ways. Right now, they are not.
Trap damage is my opinion. Wraith's passive and active abilities might seem incidental or small but they are not. They are so powerful that I keep using that class again and again, because they are awesome. Subtle, but awesome.
To compensate for the trap damage being upped I would limit traps to 3, but I would definitely stack the damage (so take that into account in the dmg amount). People would at first complain that he's OP, but so use him then! But they won't use him more than the others, because finally he'd be closer to the same level. imo.
Right now there are the play to win characters and play to have fun characters. Maybe that's right formula, so u don't burnout trying to win win win. I don't know.
