HELP inappropriate chat

Hi devs and guys,

The last couple of seasons and these days i can not have a gaming session without receiving some inappropriate TEXT chat.

When i make a empty party (xbox) so i won’t get shouted at, people still find a way by chatting WITH TEXT  ingame to make you feel bad and worse. This can totally ruin my session when i just want to have fun. Day in, day out.

Is there a way to completely turn off in game chat, if not.. Devs please notice!

Especially for the new players this should be the worst experience.

Thanks you guys

  • The best thing you can do is to hit the "mute all" button while still in the lobby. On xbox it's the Y button, and there's a notice in the lower right corner of the screen to remind you. It stays there all the way through legend selection. After that you would have to wait for the match to start and then manually mute each teammate, which is hidden in a menu somewhere but not too hard to find. Either way, it seems easier to me than having to go into the console settings and set up an empty chat. I hate the xbox ui. It used to be simple and intuitive, about a thousand years ago. Now I have to do a google search every time I want to change some basic feature.

  • ROTTERDAM-BOSS & reconzero Luckily for us, there's actually a setting for this that will automatically mute other players!

    - While in the game, open up the settings
    - On the first settings tab, (labeled gameplay), scroll down and find "Communication Filter"
    - Change the "Communication Filter" setting to "Friends Only", or to "No One"

Note: From my experiences, if you had manually unmuted a player, they will remain unmuted. If you get them as a teammate again, you are able to mute them either from the squad tab, at the start of the match, while in the lobby, (if they're in your party), etc.

Furthermore, there may be some cases where teammates may not be muted, (such as the other squads on your team in modes like Control and TDM. When this setting first came out, I was still getting voice/text communications from the 2nd and/or 3rd squads at the end of a match before going back to the lobby. This issue seems to be fixed now, but just wanted to mention it, (but you may still hear teammates from the other squads on your team if you had manually unmuted them before and haven't re-muted them yet).

    Thanks 4 reply.

I might have been not clear enough.

I am speaking about just TEXT chat.

ROTTERDAM-BOSS In that case, there's sadly no in-game option that would disable just the text chat in-game.

If these players are sending you a text message through Xbox itself, then go into your Xbox account's settings, and turn off the ability to be messaged by non-friends. (Note: When you turn this setting to "Friends Only", it might disable the voice and text chat communications in-game with any non-friend player as well).
