Im quitting apex

Im a first week player with 407 days spent in apex. Yes i said days. I haven't played apex in over a month now and the reason is that you guys permanently ban my friend just because he called someone the B word. That seems like an extreme overreaction don't you think? I will be stepping away from apex permanently unless this ridiculous issue and others like it are resolved. You’re losing two of your biggest fans because of this.

Just and FYI my friend did try to make an appeal for this ban 3 separate times and was harshly rejected each time.

  • Hey folks,

Locking the thread here as it is not something we can address via the forums. If multiple appeals have already been filed with the ToS team and they've declined to remove a penalty, that will be final and not something that can be changed here either.

Insulting others is not acceptable, this goes both ways. If someone else starts it, you have the option to report and mute them rather than continuing with insults of your own - which will only serve to place both accounts in jeopardy rather than the instigator.

Additionally, keep in mind that in the event of a permanent ban, it would not simply be due to a one-time use of an insult. Bans of this nature would take into account prior warnings and suspensions that would lead to a permanent ban if the behavior did not change.

A permanent ban would be due to repeat behavior that did not change, not a one-time insult.

I am sorry to hear that you are leaving Apex.

I am also sorry to hear that your friend got themselves banned. However no one should call others bad names and no one should have to be subjected to that. The issue is not ridiculous, and it is covered in the Terms of Service agreement.

Best practice is play nice with others.

  • Well, I bet his "harsh" rejections weren't harsh enough to contain the B word, so there's that.

I dont see how that would make any difference… maybe focus on actions and not words?

I quote thee here: "Riiiiight, or maybe people can stop acting like fairies instead.

Really that is what you think the solution/problem is. You think your friend is not at fault at all and that what they did was fine?

Maybe you and your friend really just need to own up and take responsibility for your actions, words and the repercussions thereof.

Lastly I leave a quote for you to ponder:     "[W]hat the internet and it's cult of anonymity do is to provide a blanket sort of immunity for anybody who want to say anything about anybody else, and it would be difficult in this sense to think of a more morally de-formed exploitation of the concept of free speech"  -Richard Bernstein, The New York Times-

Honestly, I’m taking this man’s side, people end up joining, dying, calling me the worst insults known to man, even though I was carrying them, and leave, I report them, but then after a few days, I got the same idiot in my game again? This was a while ago, but honestly. You’re not the only one leaving Apex. My friend and I are switching to different games like Valorant, Rivals, Overwatch, even Fortnite. We spent years on this game, together, both of us have at least spent more than 3000 dollars in the game, and, we both have around 2000 hours each. This game has been ruined, just because of the devs.

Listen buddy, i can agree that people need to be punished if they take things too far. Being downright hateful should always be frowned upon. I think you need to understand the difference between talking smack and being hateful. People who make threats should be ban, people that cuss at each other… no. Its not like my buddy and i are going around yelling at every person we encounter. Im talking about people that start something which causes us to react. Like running away from a winning fight in a high rank game

Thank you! You get it dude. Thats the exact scenario thats happens daily. The randoms always do crap to push your buttons and then start saying awful things on top of that. Are we supposed to just take that crap from random people everyday? No way bro. If someone starts talking crap to me im gonna say something back regardless of if its online or in real life. Nothing illegal about arguing with people.
