Pub skill based matchmaking is garbage

I have been playing this game for like 6 months and really enjoyed it until the garbage skill based matchmaking came into play, I now want to throw my PS4 out the window every time I play.. why does every online game start out fun and then they put out a garbage update that makes anyone who’s good at the game end up hating the game they originally loved.

  • Mixing premades with randoms is what needs to stop.

It's making Duo mode a joke; pred duos Vs me + rando lvl30 gold; wtf?!?

Tbh it doesn't matter though; my discord group have moved on, the in-game invite system is necessarily disabled, so making no acquaintances is impossible, and I've run out of patience with randoms.

    I'm done for this season.

P.s. For the record this event was siht; worst yet. Duos offered some hope, but with the matchmaking how it is.... garbage.

sbmm is a shlt show in casual games.   seems legit for ranked mode.  i dont play ranked tho, could careless about a rank or badge.  i just wanna kill motherƒuckers.  thats why i make a new account everyday, sometimes 2.    not my fault...

i understand yall are doing what you think is best for the game, it just doesnt work for me and my skill level.

    .. brb registering new account.

  • I've asked for SBMM. Yes, one of those people.

Look, friends. SBMM wasn't implemented because devs wanted to waste some time and programming. It was implemented, cause the open random lobbies were unplayable for the majority of players (who is, surprisingly, mostly low skill-chillers, and not tryhards) and in the second season people started to leave.

For me (lower gold\0.5 k\d)  and players of my kind (and believe me, I'me not special) it's simple enough - we can play and have fun, we stay. We have too much frustration - we leave. And how we get our comfort play - SBMM or not - it isn't significant. Just so happens, that the SBMM is the best way we have now to make this game suitable for the majority of the player base. Is it ideal? Guess not. Is it working? Definitely.

BTW, Smurfing isn't a big problem either. Multiple smurf accounts made by people meeting all of the following criteria - 1) High gold\Platum level of skill 2) loathing for a high K\D number as a primary goal of play 3) indecent (or just sh1tty person). There is some amount of such people in the overall player population, but I doubt they are statistically significant.

This is a bit crazy attituded man.

You don't see a bigger picture here.

I don't play for KD, in-fact I only checked it now when you mentioned this and in season 1 I was around 0.8KD. Right now I am around 1,3KD and not because of SBMM but because of challenging better players, learning the game, stop being a loot goblin and simply becoming a bit better.

What they do with SBMM is transfer the frustration from low KD players to higher KD players and make low KD players lazy. I mean, why would you improve if the system is rigged in the way to match you with someone to carry you? This is plain silly to make it easier for one group of players and ruin it for others, how is it a fix to ANYTHING?

If this is supposed to be SKILL-BASED why not match players of similar level and skill instead of mixing it all up? Same comes with ranked, it's complete fail seeing gold level guys in my team being matched against diamond and predator. How is it fair?

@just-brajan As I said earlier - SBMM, in its current state, isn't ideal, but overall it works - statistically, to keep the player numbers up. (Actually, it's the only big picture out there) Should Respawn make it work better for the higher-tier players? Yes, of course. Should it come at the expense of less-skilled players? Definitely not.

Also, it's interesting, how this game attracts so many education specialists. I don't know what's your experience with the improvement process, dear colleague, but my experience as a university teacher and the ex-military instructor tells me that people show much better results facing relatively simple and well-explained challenges, and a very hard, almost impossible tasks lead only to learned helplessness.
Also, let's not forget that the game should be fun at any stage, and there's nothing wrong with being lazy when playing a game. It's not a job and even not a workout.
  • thats the idea of every game.

why let you enjoy the game, when you will get bored of it soon.

must make you * off, because the more you * off the more you want to play. only until 90% + people left the game or stop playhing they will make a change again.

  • I think EA and Respawn are keeping keen eye on this. They definetly want to see this game flourish and thrive and this why it is just like you said -->

"isn't ideal, but overall it works - statistically, to keep the player numbers up. (Actually, it's the only big picture out there).  I dare to say that these two companies have way better access to statistics that we players could only guess.

There is quite much talk about SBMM and how it works and how it doesn't. I think I will go for that group who's game play have not been affected too much with SBMM. I am having fun and action packed games. To me pubs are total mayhem where people rush for landing and just look for fights! Fast and fun. =)

I am not sure how pubs matchmaking works but if you ask me it should be random all the way with no limits. Or lets make it so that players in the level of 0-100 have their own random lobby (so that new comers dont hit meat grinder right of the bat). After lvl 100 you would enter in to slot machine and with good luck you could have 2 pred status players in your squad and perhaps participate really good game play in person. I would enjoy that.

People think/say that this would launch a pub stombing madness but what odds you would really have to encounter lets say 5-10times in a row full predator pre made squad? How long these high end players would enjoy destroying lobby after lobby? I think nobody is not too into shooting potatoes all day long.

  • @Littumulkero As fun as it sounds, the mediocre players would just create 10 new accounts and once they reach level 100 they would switch to a brand new account and repeat, their old accounts they would most likely sell since they would easily have the 20 kills badge, 4k damage etc.. sucks that theres no way of getting rid of it, unless they release some sort of ban for inactive accounts. That would just create other issues though, has to be a way around it >_>

    I have the same problem..

I'm over level 400 and I never find randoms over lever 150. Most of the times they are not even level 50.

They don't even know how to jump far away, so they always land in hot zones and most of my games don't last more than 2 minutes...

Getting a win is a mirage, if you now what I mean. 90% of my games end with no kills cos I'm always fighting solo against 2 or 3 teams (sometimes more) at the same time.

They over ping, sometimes both over pinging.

They ping everything they see, and you can't hear anything around you. They hide or run away from the fights. They take too much time looting. They overlook. Had a team mate with all kinds of ammo but no heals at all. Also had a life line that crossed half of the map with 10 health and no shield. I tryed to talk but probably didn't even speak English...

And I don't wanna talk about the 5 year old kids...
