Re: AIM ASSIST IS TOO STRONG

@Yohimbay

Mouse and Keyboard Players,

As an Xbox player, I wholeheartedly agree that Aim Assist needs to be reduced, but ironically, not because it's making it easier, but actually because aim assist makes things harder.

I believe you do not understand Aim Assist in Apex at all, and your comments are based on assumptions (and an excuse for losing gunfights) and I think you should play on a controller to learn it won't make you better.

I use ALC settings, and have experimented significantly with turning off the Aim Assist setting. Aim Assist is not "aimbot" nor "no recoil". Aim Assist does ONE thing, and that one thing is LOWER SENSITIVITY.

If you move your crosshair left to right and go over an enemy, it creates a "drag". Your sensitivity basically acts as a DPI hotkey used to slow sens. It slows and drags over then enemy as if you cut your sensitivity in half, then bursts back as soon as your past the enemy.

If you set your cursor NEAR an enemy, it will not SNAP ON. It will not move on its own. It will not track the enemy. When you shoot, it does not change the recoil. The recoil patter on enemy with no stick input, is exactly the same for both aim assist on and off. You can test all these things with the dummies in the firing range.

All it does is reduce sensitivity over a target. This hurts controller players for a few reasons.

If you set your ads sensitivity based on a target in the range, then shoot a dummy, you will find you need to turn sensitivity up, because you need to pull down much harder over an enemy than a target due to aim assist sensitivity. So when you do this, and get your sensitivity set on enemy, then if you shoot a target, sensitivity will be too high.

In-game, this leads to a significant issue that as you shoot an enemy, as soon as they strafe, move, or your crosshair is off of them slightly, your sensitivity spikes and there's a huge burst kicking you even further off target, then your trying to over-correct creating a * gunfire. Also, if you are trying to track a running target, it is a pain because the slow-down causes you to trail the enemy and not be able to catch up while also mainting recoil, once again, as soon as your slightly off, sens increases and you jump off-target.

I dont know where you all got the idea that aim assist is an auto-aim. It needs to be reduced, but also still needs to exist for many reasons. A stick doesn't have the range of motion of a mouse. You can't flick like a mouse and have both tight control and also quick turns. On mouse, nothing effects your right hand but itself. Holding a controller, every adjustment with your left hand will effectively move your controller and effect your right stick. Like when you strafe left and right jamming your stick side to side while also aiming, much harder than just clicking A and D back and forth. You guys can even Keybind buttons to specifically use bats, Phoenix kits, meds, all individually. We have to hold open a menu that takes a delay to open then choose the item, then press again to use it. You also get to use your whole arm to aim, allowing 360 degrees of control. Your thumb is attached to your hand with a very limited range of motion, more like a windshield wiper blade on a car.

So two points here.
1. Yes Aim Assist needs to be reduced
2. Just admit already that M&K has huge advantages over controller and take accountability for your losses because of bad play and stop blaming aim-assist. And just "get better" like you said.
