This used to be a pet peeve of mine. I assumed it was intentional, so that even if you got out fast enough to keep the "death" off your record, the enemy would still get a "kill" on theirs even if they only got a single shot on you. Which always annoyed me because it makes it seem as if the only reason anyone would leave a match is to artificially boost their k/d by leaving without dying. Which was NEVER what I was trying to do.
