Re: I’m level 5, matched against and with level 70+ people

@0soulqveen0 The matchmaking is designed to keep people playing, it doesn't care if you're new or anything, which honestly is just too bad. A lot of players quit playing, due to being stomped over by the preds since matchmaking doesn't care about skill base matchmaking or anything like that.

Thanks, if that's the case I'll probably uninstall it. I'd rather not stress myself out about a game that I'll likely never be good at. The skill gap between me and a lot of players is too large for me to even try and get better.

I don't have any speicifc info on the matchmaking, but if you're playing solo you should have an easier time of things. Perhaps you had a couple of bad matches, or may it'll take a few games before you're put in the coirrect matchmaking group.

If you play with a more experienced partner you are likely to get put into more difficult lobbies though, yes.

@EA_DavidSo from personal experience, matchmaking gives both hard and easy matches to high and low level players, more so hard, as you're matched into lobbies in quantities, rather than quality. This basically means that in any mode, regardless of ranks and skills, you're paired with anyone and go up against anyone in the matchmaking que. Most notably, the "sweats" of the game are mostly populating the que, so you'd find yourself fighting preds, smurphing players, and cheaters more often than not.

Also, several people had pointed it out before, and I've even seen the EA public document on it, matchmaking is also set to keep players playing by having matches be too hard so you would want to "redeem" yourself, and after several hard matches, you're then given easier ones (for me, matchmaking runs me over for 15+ games, and then goes "here's an easy one" for 1 or 2 matches, before running me over again, this is NOT fun), if you win these easy ones, you're back into hard matches, as matchmaking tries and balance your win to loss ratio, but also if you lose like 2-3 of them in a row, matchmaking either shoves you into "bot lobbies", or right back into hard lobbies.

Unfortunately, (and I've experienced this as well), matchmaking doesn't just make harder enemy teams, it also messes with who you get as a teammate, to help insure the win to loss ratio. After several games of being ran over by preds, and people "better than me", (even though a few used cheats and whatnot), I've noticed with each match, teammates get slightly better, and are higher levels, and are a bit more skilled. Then when you get that easy match, suddenly both teammates know what they're doing, and most of the time, you can drop 5+ kills as a team, depending on how well you work together.

Matchmaking does NOT like you winning with good teammates though, as it be super rare to get the same ones again, and more common to get the noob teammates twice, or even three times in a row. I had two people run off and play solos during ranked, and we all died because of it. Then next match, one was a random again, and it was the one with zero skills on top of the whole running off. (They couldn't aim to save themselves, like worse than console aim without aim assist).

Adding players to your team, (aka not "randoms" anymore), gives 1 or 2 okay games, but that's just matchmaking seeing your combat effectiveness, right before running you, and your team over. That's right, if you take away matchmaking's ability to mess with even one teammate slot, it gets annoyed with you, and actually puts you into harder lobbies. You're right about "playing with more experienced players" though, however matchmaking will be tough even if the team is a 3 stack group of "experienced players", and it can be the same matchmaking a 3 stack group of new players get, which is why new players go "why am I a level 5, in a 100+ lobby", uh... yeah...

As someone who mostly solo que, matches are often a pain to win, as there's people solo que sweating, better than me, leaving the match when knocked, etc. Then if I play with a friend, enemies are tougher, and some are nearly impossible to kill, as it feels like you need 3 mags to knock them, but they only need 1 to knock you. I see more smurphs while playing with friends, than I do playing as a solo. A second friend just makes matchmaking even more hard most of the time, as I then would see more cheaters running around in matches. The cheats range from snapping to people's heads, shooting close range guns at long range, with no recoil, pinging through walls, even see some gain instant health or shields without healing up, shooting any gun faster, (I've seen someone empty a volt faster than an R-99, for example, and they had even reloaded it just as fast.)

Until matchmaking actually balance and adhere to "skill based matchmaking", or stops rigging matches to where you get weak teammates while winning or doing good, and good ones after being ran over so many times, and even handle smurphs/cheaters better, people are going to continue to complain, and more often than not, quit playing the game. Over the course of the last 3 seasons, I've noticed matchmaking has been getting a lot harder, and that's not because people are getting better, its because the preds are heavily smurphing, and more and more are buying cheats, strikepacks, etc. and are running rampant. I'm seeing below level 30's destroy a whole lobby as a solo, like they would run off and just kill people left and right.

Some in which are on console, which the cross-play is nice and all, I'd like to turn it off, as hitting console players no regs more often, they can hit you behind cover more often, and the mention strikepacks, makes them nearly impossible to kill, namely when its a Gibraltar with a Rampage, yeah you're not going to kill someone who gets the most no regs on them, and has the gun shield equipped, and is playing on console so they see more of you, than you do of them. Going behind cover does not work when you're fighting them.

I know of people who created new accounts so they can level up again and give the game a fresh feel, and their first few matches were perfectly normal. After winning them, or just doing well, they get shoved into my kind of lobbies. I'm a level 500+, max normal and arena rank being plat IV as its annoying to get into diamond and up rankings because of matchmaking and the lack of consistent online friends who play ranked, lobbies also are constantly consist of diamond and up players, and smurphs/cheaters more often when playing with friends. This is also the kind of lobbies people completely new to the game also find themselves in. Although, I can say that they'll be in a lobby that's hard, but lobbies like mine are harder. I've watched friends who are in the level 200-300 range, been playing since season 5, and they are only bronze and silvers in ranked, and their enemy teams are more often weaker than the ones I see, and then they join me, and we all just get ran over. Its not fun.

  • @EA_David Okay let me put this in a more "friendly" way: The tldr is that matchmaking sucks and it doesn't matter how many games you play, you still get the same results... Level 500 average player here, and I still get mixed results in matchmaking, from 4k damage and 20 bomb badges, to brand new players who don't know how to walk forward.

...Is this nice enough to not delete this time?

Look, we're frustrated with this game, and when all we see from official people or sources is "more $20 skins" instead of fixes, we're going to lose our cool.
  • @EA_Davidyou telling me that i get easy time lol but why im still against 3stacks or 2stacks ...............apex needs to put only solo Q player's vs solo Q players, and for love of god please please please give us solo mode please .... in last 3 months i have only 45 hours playtime on apex i quit because apex don't like solo player's ....if apex had solos i will play but yeah......team based shooter bla bla bla .....
