Re: Matchmaking for new players.

@Highresista Just by way of a test. If the quality of matches doesn't improve, then at least you know it isn't related to queueing as a full squad and it's possible things may improve as the season settles in.

The problem is there's not going to be a good matchmaking system or even a better one. There's too many people smurphing, cheating, boosting players, there's also the problem with a lot of casual and legit players stop playing because of cheaters and smurphs, so you just get preds, noobs, and cheaters mix.

Matchmaking would have to put cheaters and smurphs into the same lobbies and stop pairing up casual players with new players. A lot of the matches I play, I'm put in a losing position, as the other two have NO idea what they're doing.

  • @reconzero The point is, we shouldn't be getting these people, because we are literally 3 new players with sub 100h of gameplay. What good does playing in a full premade is, when 1 person with 5k+ hours just laser beams you 1v3.

"too many people smurphing, cheating, boosting" - this is true, and yet it's always been true of any game that sustains a high population over time. I can't say (yet) that I feel like I'm getting lobbies made up exclusively of predators + noobs + cheaters, although I will say there are a LOT of noobs. But that's also true of any game with a steep learning curve (all games nowadays) and it's also a burden felt especially by veterans who choose to solo queue (definitely me). Still this season seems better to me than last, although I'm first to acknowledge that it's premature to say anything just yet.

@Highresista Remember that matchmaking is more art than science - the qualities of your opponents definitely has something to do with queueing as a full squad, but it has to do with a lot of other things as well. I'll eat my hat if you persevere for a while and things don't get any better. It isn't fun to give matchmaking the time it wants to figure out your skill, your teammates skills, and then find you a solid match, especially if you're playing lower population playlists or queueing at off-peak hours. But it will get better. Maybe not good enough to justify the grind, but better just the same.
  • @reconzero just had a game, where we landed about 2000m away from the dropship and got killed in 20 seconds by two diamond players xDDDDDDDDDDDD. This game is literally unplayable. Bye.

This is exactly why a large portion of the playerbase is struggling: they never really got a fighting chance to improve their skills and close the skill gap to an acceptable level. You can't learn anything when you get demolished in your first fight over and over again, and this happens way too frequently. Both pubs and ranked give the same experience because of the smurf infestation in rookie/bronze which is worse than ever.

That's why most of our random teammates aren't as skilled. That's why a lot of randoms are frustrated and toxic. They hardly catch a break with this unforgiving, darwinistic matchmaking system.

  • @Solim66 there is literally no point in playing solo and there is literally no point in playing premade, *.

@reconzeroI get matches, where teammates are low leveled or new players (can tell as they have bad game awareness and they would get killed or knocked a lot, doing little to no damage to enemy players), meanwhile in the sky, are diamonds, masters, and pred skydive trails. With the most common form of cheating, being wall hacks.

Its honestly sad to see high ranking players, with a good chunk of them just using cheats (Not more than 10% of them though). I typically see about 2 preds, 3 masters, and 4 diamonds per match (or 2 masters, and 6 diamonds, with like 1 pred), and only 1-2 of them are using some form of cheats. When I don't see this many high ranking players, its players between level 10-30 with 20 kill bomb, 4k damage and whatnot. You know, the ones people have been calling smurphs.

Oftentimes, the cheating players are the same ones every other match. Sometimes I would die to cheaters in one match (can tell as they're running out of the ring and shooting at my team, even though they had no awareness we were there, shooting with no recoil, aim seems to be guided as they lock on to each member on my team, aiming at walls and slowly looking around (during spectating) and you see them follow someone out of cover, and these cheaters just become the champions in the next match.

Came back from work to plays some casual Apex. First game of the day died to a guy with 40k kills and over 2k wins. Closed the game right after xD . I have 140h of gameplay xD . Nice match making you have there, EA. But then again it is EA and they have no clue about gaming. The game's matchmaking literally doesn't allow you to play.
