Re: There is no SBMM

@TastyMeaI

I dont know if you are talking about ranked or casual but for the latter, there actually is a SBMM but its kinda "broad" if you get my point. These are ofc non comfirmed theories but it seems to me the current SBMM in casual basically:

1) sorts out the very, very worst players in to a low level/noob lobby. My IRL friend who started to play Apex as his first PVP FPS ever, is now level 60 and is still being matched in these lobbies (he is actually so bad he struggles in Bronze/Silver).

2) Sort out full 3-man premade squads (not all, but many) into separate "hot" lobbies.  . Seems to me that after you steamrolled a couple of matches as a solo, you usually end up in such lobby as well, so perhaps "well performing" solos and premade duos have a high chance of being matched in these lobbies as well. I think the difference in the average skill level of the lobby is unquestionable if you play as a solo compared to as a 3-man squad

3) sort out the very, very best players in a "super hot" lobby. I only get into these lobbies when I play 3-man premade with Master/preds to or other Diamond3+ players like myself, but the existence of these lobbies is unquestionable. Here is a screenshot of my latest such match. Look at the diving trails and keep in mind that this was in the middle of the flight path. The best players in the lobby had already jumped hot so many Pred trails were not visable here.

4) All other players that dont qualifies for 1-3, like below average, average, good solos, premade duos etc etc in one "standard" lobby.  This is undoubtedly the most common lobby where most people end up in.

    @Balladalidila I concur with this post. I tried to join ranked so that I would be at my better average, I got paired with a guy that have been doing 300k damage and 500 frags, and got wiped by another that was of the same blood.
    Both were bronze II.
    That's absurd to no end.
    I think i'll play aimbot, it's better, you can't get lasered instead without a chance to even get close to a weapon because your teamate jumped an area full of guys like him who should not even be in the same dimension than you.
    Why do they have so much hard time doing an SBMM working.
    Just base it on Elo. Do they need to watch "the social network" for a course by "Zuch"? It's like making a beginner in Chess play against Magnus Carlsen.
    I'll stay polite but I'm fed up. Indeed I suck like hell, but I can't get any better if I spend my time in absurd games like these.

    I think you are correct on the assumption that the player base seems waning.
    All the issue you mention above IMO have an impact on whether players are gonna stay or leave.
  • @Balladalidila  ''the existence of these lobbies is unquestionable''

    Isn't this the evidence you were asking me to provide way back when? Talking about top tier lobbies and you said it was a feeling, not fact? Something along those lines.

    I'm fairly sure it was you when we had our first discussion that we disagreed on... Might be mistaken and can't be bothered to check as it's bbq n beer day.

    Gz on getting into them though. Your reward will be a receding hair line lol.

    @apostolateofDOOM

    I have always argued that 3-man premades get hotter matchmaking, ESPCIALLY if that 3-man premade all are all among the top ELO. What I have disagreed with are all the people who say they are "casual players" but also claim that every single casual lobby they play are joining are stacked with 60-80% masters and preds. Those are the lobbies that I up to this day claim dont exist.

  • @Balladalidila No one says that they're all master/predators from a rank perspective. But with how some people are playing, you may as well expect that.

    You can spectate people, you can play for yourself or whatever you prefer to do to observe this. In a single match you will see huge differences in skill level. Sometimes you just come across a squad which barely even tries. Sometimes you come across a squad that actually feels like an equal. Sometimes you fight against people who are massively better than you. Comparing the least skilled player in a match with the most skilled player often yields hilarious results. Because when you take both into perspective, it's hard to believe that SBMM is existent in the first place.

    And the most skilled players often pull off moves that I didn't even know existed.
